You may get part of your income support payment or Family Tax Benefit (Part A) early. This is an advance payment. You pay it back later out of your payments from us. Some people can get income support payments paid each week instead of each fortnight.
Income test
If you earn above $150 per fortnight, your payment reduces by 50 cents for each dollar between $150 and $256 then by 60 cents for each dollar over $256. If you're single and a principal carer, you can earn up to $150 per fortnight pre tax, before your payment is affected.
Couples will get $22.50 per fortnight each, bumping the payment to $639.10. Indexation will bump assistance payments up by $5.60 a fortnight for singles without children, $6.58 for maximum rate recipients with one or two children and $7.42 for those with three or more children.

Those on JobSeeker, Austudy and Youth Allowance will see payments increase by $40 per fortnight. Chalmers said this increase would cost the budget $4.9 billion over five years.

Most unemployed people will have full-time mutual obligation requirements of at least 70 hours per fortnight. If you are working less than 70 hours per fortnight (casually or part-time) you will still have to look for full-time work or undertake other suitable activities.
In any 6 months or 13 fortnights you can only get either: one advance at the highest amount. up to 2 advances of smaller amounts.
The amount of Crisis Payment is equal to one week's payment of your basic Centrelink pension or benefit. This doesn't include additional payments such as Rent Assistance or Pharmaceutical Allowance. This payment is a one-off addition to your regular fortnightly payment.
