The United Kingdom country code is +44. This is the 1st number you enter when making a call to the UK.
The Office of Communications (Ofcom), London, announces that the following UK Paging and Mobile numbers have been allocated to communications providers in the United Kingdom (country code +44).
Adding '+44', the UK's country code makes the number unambiguous; '+44 7911 123456' will always connect to a mobile phone in the UK.
When writing telephone numbers, remove the leading zero from the number and replace it with the UK's international dialling code: +44. Add a space between this code and the rest of the number.
0 is what you dial to get out of your village into the country domain. When you come from outside the country the 0 is omitted. In UK mobile numbers start with 7. so you dial + to get out of your country, 44 to get into UK, and 7 to reach a mobile phone.
Depending on the service provider within the country of origin, you may be able to call an 08 or 03 number from outside the UK. To do so, you will need to drop the 0 from the start of the number and instead dial +44 followed by the rest of the number.
To call a UK landline from overseas: Dial the international access code for the country you are calling from – typically 00, 011, or '+' (mobiles) Dial the country code for the UK – 44.
International Dialling
The country code for the UK is 44. It is also not necessary to dial the leading zero when calling into the UK from outside the country, so this is shown in a bracket. For example, +44 (0) 1423 396979 for Harrogate 01423 396979.
44 is the international code for england (00 can replace the +). the 44 replaces the first 0 in the number, e.g, +447890 would be 07890. +44191... would be 0191.
Sometimes you will see a phone number in an ad with a plus in front of it, for example +44 123 456 789. This means the phone number is in the country with country code 44 (UK). You can normally dial this number from your phone by simply replacing the plus (+) with 00 (zero zero).

+44 is the international way of telling that the number is from the United Kingdom. similarly +1 is the international code for the United States.
Standard geographic numbers
Geographic telephone numbers in the UK always have nine or ten digits after the 0 trunk code or +44 international dialling prefix.
When calling a UK phone number, the country code of +44 needs to entered, followed by the UK area code and a local (or mobile) number in order to complete the call. If calling from a landline, replace the + sign with 0011 followed by 44 (UK country code) and then the UK area code and local number.
Politics may also have played a part in the allocation, e.g. 1 for USA so 7 for the USSR. The UK and France were the main players in the ITU, so they took the "nicer" codes 44 and 33.
Mobile phones
Within Australia, mobile phone numbers begin with 04 or 05 – the Australian national trunk code 0, plus the mobile indicator 4 or 5 – followed by eight digits. This is generally written as 04XX XXX XXX within Australia, or as +61 4XX XXX XXX for an international audience.
Australian telephone numbers in general use have no more than 10 digits: Landlines – 2 digits for the area code followed by 8 digits for the rest of the telephone number. Mobiles – 10 digits (there is no area code).
To make an international call, press + before you begin dialing the number. You can do this easily by pressing and holding the 0 key until the + appears. 4. Add the relevant country code for the number you're calling, followed by the local number.
The difference is simple. 07 is the prefix used when dialing a British number inside the UK, while +44 is what used when dialing a British number outside the UK. You might ask whether +44 and 07 are the same.
Here's an example of what it would look like to dial a mobile phone in the UK: 011 (exit code), 44 (country code), 7 (mobile phone code), 555 123 456.
