First, make sure that you have thoroughly washed your face and removed any makeup or oil build-up. Try to avoid any sun exposure on the few days before your appointment, if you are sunburnt, we might not be able to perform your facial thread as it can damage your skin!
Avoid exfoliating your skin the day of your facial hair threading appointment. When your skin is exfoliated, it becomes more sensitive with threading, and this might lead to redness. 3. Hydration is key to make your skin less sensitive before threading.
Avoid touching the treated area for 2-4 hours. No make-up or perfumed products should be applied for 2-4 hours. Avoid steam treatment or heat source like sun bathing / tanning beds, hot baths or sauna for at least 24 hours. Avoid swimming or spray tanning 24-48 hours post threading.
Refrain from taking a hot and steamy baths or shower for at least two hours following treatment. If you are planning on bleaching your face, we would recommend that you wait at least two days between threading and bleaching.
The threading technique removes hairs from the follicle which temporarily opens the pores making them more susceptible to dirt and germs; if these things enter the pores it can cause a small infection in the form of a break out.
Do consider threading after a warm bath or shower. Heat causes the pores to open, and moisture softens the skin. A warm bath or shower before threading can make the procedure easier and less painful. Even a warm, wet towel on the face for a few minutes helps.
threading can cause skin irritations. On sensitive skins, there can be redness or a rash. Avoid threading on areas with eruptions, like pimples or acne. A zinc ointment or ice can be applied to soothe the skin.
'Breakouts' after eyebrow threading are usually one of two things – irritation or folliculitis. If you develop some minor redness and a few tiny little 'bumps', this may be a simple irritant reaction. For mild irritant reactions, a soothing aloe vera gel might be all you need (wash your hands before applying it!).
Experiencing slight discomfort in the first two days after the procedure is normal, it will gradually reduce. Try keeping your head elevated for a week. Don't pull your facial skin, massage, scrub or exfoliate the skin for at least three weeks. You are also not supposed to wash or touch your face for at least 12 hours.
How long do threading results last? Everyone's hair grows at a different rate, but on average, hair removal from threading can last between 2 and 5 weeks. You can also maintain the look for longer with touch-up appointments that are less intensive than a full-scale brow shaping.
Is threading good for face? Yes, threading is a very good facial hair removal method. Its effects last longer than waxing, tweezing or shaving and each time you get threaded, the hair grows thinner and finer, more bright and not so visible.
Moisturize. Hydrate your skin as much as possible. As part of your daily and/or nightly beauty routine, apply a moisturizer that does not contain perfume or alcohol, since these can deter your healing process and cause more irritation.
After threading, you can apply aloe vera lotion, extract or natural pulp to the affected areas, and it will significantly reduce the pain after threading.
There is little to no recovery following a threading procedure. Skin may be mildly red and sensitive following the treatment, but this usually resolves within a few hours.
Although threading is quite gentle on the skin, you may experience some redness near your eyebrow area for the few hours after your threading appointment. There is no need to worry however because the redness is likely to fade away in just a few hours.
Sleep on your side
Sleeping on your side, or even on your stomach, results in pressure on your face. You need to avoid this for about a week after your thread lift procedure. Try to sleep on your back with your head propped up on a pillow to minimize swelling after a thread lift.
Before your appointment, use a gentle cleanser to remove any makeup from your face, especially the skin around your eyes and brows. A thorough cleansing will help make the threading process easier and more precise.
Feel free to move around but avoid any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 2-3 weeks. If your stomach is feeling settled, you can start to consume small, soft meals. If you feel nauseous, do not eat solid food, just drink small amounts of clear liquids until the nausea passes.
Threading or proper shaving does not cause hyperpigmentation.
Threading lifts the hair from the follicle, therefore if it is done on a regular basis, it weakens the hair follicle so hair growth becomes less dense over time, and new hair will grow finer and sparser. Re-growth is between 2-4 weeks, depending on hair growth.
Will my hair grow back thicker or darker after threading? No, your hair will never grow thicker or darker after threading. Since threading removes the hair from the root, your hair will become finer over time.
