Simon tells Daphne he can't have children, and Daphne doesn't know exactly how babies are made, so she doesn't realize that Simon pulling out is the reason she won't get pregnant.
until it's not) turns into her taking advantage of Simon by forcing him to cum or ejaculate inside of her. Up until that time in the show, Simon had always pulled out before ejaculating (which is about 78% effective at preventing pregnancy by the way) so that he wouldn't get Daphne pregnant.
The answer lies in a vow that Simon makes to his father to never sire an heir for the Hastings line. It turns out that Simon has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. In multiple flashbacks, we learn about his cold and cruel father. Simon's father merely wants an heir for the sake of continuing the family name.
Simon says that if Daphne is pregnant, he'll stay with his family, but if she's not, this will become a marriage-in-name-only painfest.
Simon was enraged at Daphne for her behaviour, telling her if there was with child their marriage was essentially over. There was a tense wait as Daphne was hoping she was desperately pregnant with Simon cold and distant from her.
Mostly, the thing that is keeping them apart is their differing views on children – namely, that Daphne wants them while Simon does not. We learn that this is because the Duke had made a vow never to have children, mostly as the ultimate insult to his father – no child means no heir, bringing the Basset line to an end.
They depict Daphne's frustration and feeling betrayal that Simon lied to her about not being able to have children, but very little to the fact that she assaulted him, and his feelings of hurt and betrayal.
After daphne had her first child with Bridgerton, she then had a miscarriage. During the performance, Simon holds Daphnes hand. At the Bridgerton ending, Simon and Daphne welcome their first child.
In the show, Marina survived and so did her pregnancy, but remember, this is all fiction.
Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Hastings
Ultimately, however, The Duke and I see them as a match made in heaven. The pair not only stay together, but they also go on to have five children.
Eventually, Simon makes peace with his past and the two reconcile their relationship. The season ends with Daphne giving birth to their first child, a baby boy.
Daphne Assaulted Simon
The worst and most toxic thing that happens in this relationship is when Daphne forces Simon to try to get her pregnant without his consent. Although they were married and loved each other, this is assault.
About three-quarters of the way through the book, Daphne is furious that Simon has lied to her about his inability to have children, thereby preventing her from becoming a mother.
By the end of season one, Daphne and Simon have reconciled their differences. Their "happily ever after" ending features the the birth of a new baby, August (nicknamed Auggie).
The Eat Your Heart Out cookbook author, 37, enjoyed the holiday with husband John Jovanovic and their four children — daughters Giovanna Ines, 3½, Domenica Celine, 5, and Philomena 'Philo' Bijou, 9, and son Jovan, 7.
The duke also jokes, after the birth of their first child in the season's final (and very affecting) scene, that he “believes” the child's name “must begin with the letter A,” as a nod to the first names of the eight Bridgerton children following alphabetic symmetry.
Lady Violet was married to Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, with whom she was very much in love and together they had eight children – Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth. While pregnant with Hyacinth, her beloved Edmund tragically died, and Lady Violet was devastated.
She was married to Lord Bridgerton until his death while she was pregnant with their eighth child, Hyacinth. She fell into a deep state of sorrow and sadness for a long time after Edmund's death, unable to do more than the bare minimum to survive and wishing she could've died so she didn't have to live without him.
According to the novel, To Sir Phillip, With Love, she actually ends up marrying Sir Phillip Crane.
There's a well-known scene from the book that also appears in the series adaptation, where the two leads have sex that becomes nonconsensual by the end of the act. Daphne forces her husband Simon to orgasm inside her, even though he has been clear he does not want children.
Simon and Daphne then share an emotional moment towards the Bridgerton ending and Simon ultimately decides to abandon his vow to never have children. At the Bridgerton ending, Simon and Daphne welcome their first child.
3) Daphne's scars from prolonged corset dressing.
During a moment in the premiere episode of Season 1, cuts and bruises can be seen on the back of Daphne, as she gets ready for a public appearance. In another scene, the maids of Prudence Featherington tighten her corsets further as she bends over.
Daphne then accuses Simon of taking advantage of her ignorance on the subject and says that she can't forgive him for lying to her.
But that's not the worse part. As the series unfolds, you begin noticing problematic characteristics with Daphne, as well as Simon. For one, both Daphne and Simon are manipulative and narcissistic.
Daphne Bridgerton is 21 when she makes her debut in British society. By season two, she'll be 22. The first season of "Bridgerton" is based on the novel "The Duke and I," the first in the "Bridgerton" series.
