The McFlurry was first introduced in 1997. It was invented in 1995 by Ron McLellan, a McDonalds franchisee. A McFlurry consists of whipped soft serve vanilla ice cream and a sweet topping. The original flavours for a McFlurry were Oreo, Heath, Nestle Crunch, M&M's and Butterfinger.
The McFlurry was created by Canadian McDonald's franchisee Ron McLellan in Bathurst, New Brunswick, in 1995. In the U.S., the McFlurry was test-marketed in select regions in 1997. By March of 1998 the product was available to all U.S. and Canada locations and has been gradually introduced in other locations since then.
McDonald's announced on Menu Spotter that the Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry will be available at participating stores across the United States on Aug. 9. The new flavor will include “creamy vanilla soft serve and blended with crispy cereal mix and chocolatey peanut butter cookie pieces,” according to the Menu Spotter.
In the US, the original additional flavors for a McFlurry were Butterfinger, M&Ms, Heath bar, Nestle Crunch, and Oreo, while in the UK, the original flavors were Dairy Milk, Smarties, and Crunchie.
A McFlurry is as simple as it gets. It is just ice cream, a touch of milk, and add-ins. But don't let the simplicity of the McFlurry fool you; it's seriously delicious. McDonald's sells many different McFluries: a McFlury with M&M candies and a McFlury with Oreo cookies are the most popular flavors.
McDonald's say they've reduced the size, sugar content and price and say that it's nothing to do with the new sugar tax. A spokesperson said: "By offering smaller portions at a reduced price we are providing our customers with the opportunity to make a choice that is right for them."
McDonald's have recently launched a highly-anticipated new McFlurry, with fast food and ice cream fans keen to give it a try. The limited edition Lotus Biscoff McFlurry landed in restaurants across Scotland and the rest of the UK on June 21, costing £1.99 a pop.
The announcement continued: "We're doing this to remove over 850 tonnes of plastic from our suppy chain a year, as part of our Plan for Change". A number of people applauded this move, pleased to see McDonald's take a stance on such an important issue.
McFlurry is a popular brand of desserts owned by the company McDonalds. To promote Shrek the Third, McFlurry had been themed with Green M&Ms and chunks of chocolate. These toppings were themed to promote the Shrek franchise. It was available until Hot Wheels was promoted by McDonalds.

The hollowness of the spoon is actually used in the process of blending the McFlurry. The spoon is designed to fit snugly into the machine that blends in the toppings. After the employee uses the soft-serve McDonald's ice cream machine to fill the cup, they scoop the topping of your choice onto the ice cream.
In the United States, many fans still talk about the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups McFlurry — while it was discontinued around 2012, a Twitter (TWTR) - Get Free Report account called "Bring Back The Reeses McFlurry" continued posting about it for years.

But if you can't get the delicious image of a McDonald's McFlurry out of your head, try the Maltesers McFlurry, which comes in at less than 277 calories. The Malteasers McFlurry comes in at 266 kcal but if you're being really good, you can even opt for a mini size which is just 133 calories.

One of the cheapest and most popular treats at McDonald's is a McFlurry.

For the blissfully unaware, the hole is there to be attached to the ice cream machine and mix the McFlurry – and you're not alone in finding this out in 2022 for the first time. It may be a bit of a welcome change for McFlurry fans as back in June, McDonald's revealed that it was scrapping two customer favourites, the Dairy Milk and Crunchie McFlurries, and swapping them with permanent fixtures Smarties and Malteasers.
