His legendary ancestor, King Aegon the Conqueror, had a vision that the world of men would fall, and understood that only his family of Aryan inbreds could save it. Viserys tells his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra, that Aegon “foresaw the end of the world of men.
Daemon Targaryen
The story of the princess and her valiant knight did not end as a fairy tale, though. A sordid and controversial story began to spread that Rhaenyra lost her virginity to her uncle Daemon at age 16.
He goes on to talk about his dream of having a son born wearing Aegon the Conqueror's crown, when Rhaenyra was younger. Viserys never had that dream again, and to keep the kingdom united, he named Rhaenyra his heir. However, after having Aegon II, he confessed to having doubts.
He says dreams didn't make them kings, dragons did. Rhaenyra realizes that Viserys never told his brother about the prophecy.
"To unite the realm against the cold and the dark," Viserys' mumbles. "It is you. You are the one.
You are the one. You must do this. You must do this.” Viserys's words, meant for Rhaenyra, fall to Alicent instead, and she interprets them as she hears them: her dying husband wants his cruel son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) on the Iron Throne, not Rhaenyra.
Viserys also tells Alicent: "I thought Rhaenyra was the way out of my abyss of grief and regret. And naming her heir would begin to set things right ... I never imagined I would remarry... that I would have a son.
When she brings up the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy, Daemon snaps and grabs her by the throat. “Dreams didn't make us kings,” he hisses as Rhaenyra struggles for breath. “Dragons did.”
He Doesn't Prepare Rhaenyra For War
Viserys' mistake here is not adequately preparing his daughter for the realities that come with ruling a kingdom. His quest for peace at any cost is of no use to Rhaenyra, who faces an existential war to secure her claim to the throne.
That's right, during the Oct. 2 episode of House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) and Daemon (Matt Smith) stopped fighting their feelings for one another and finally got together. However, this was more than just an illicit liaison, as Rhaenyra and Daemon got married at the end of the episode.
The tea is "moon tea" and is an abortifacient to prevent any unwanted pregnancies as a result of any sexual encounters Rhaenyra may have had.
In one dark day, Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) is informed that her father King Viserys (Paddy Considine) is dead, and also that her one-time childhood BFF Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) has usurped the throne by crowning her reprehensible son Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) as king.
' And she is Aemma's daughter, she is Aemma's child, she's the only thing he has left of Aemma, so he's going to make her heir and he's never going to change his mind because he's never going to stop loving Aemma. Putting Rhaenyra as his heir is his penance for what happened.”
We last saw her find out the truth in "We Light the Way" that Rhaenyra lost her virginity to Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel).
While House Of The Dragon episode 4 showed Daemon was able to seduce Rhaenyra by kissing and undressing her, he couldn't fulfill the act due to impotence.
The moment happens in season 3, episode 4, “And Now His Watch Is Ended,” when Joffrey Lannister is chilling with Margaery Tyrell and giddily explains, “Rhaenyra Targaryen was murdered by her brother, or rather, his dragon. It ate her while her son watched. What's left of her is buried in the crypts right down there.”
Leprosy is a slow moving disease
The show has got the speed of the disease correct. King Viserys has lived with leprosy for many decades and the disease has grown very slowly.
Paddy Considine, who plays Viserys, has recently explained that his character is suffering with leprosy. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly's West of Westeros podcast, he revealed: “He's actually suffering from a form of leprosy. His body is deteriorating, his bones are deteriorating.
In Season 1 Episode 3, titled “Second of His Name,” a scene features King Viserys (Paddy Considine) handing a letter to a soldier. A Twitter user pointed out that the king's fourth and fifth fingers are green in the episode — apparently a visual effects editor did not edit out the “green screen” effect on the digits.
While Daemon and Rhaenyra have been circling each other for quite some time, the finale revealed a darker and more toxic aspect of their relationship when, arguing over how to proceed against Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney), Daemon chokes Rhaenyra in order to get his point across.
While House Of The Dragon episode 4 showed Daemon was able to seduce Rhaenyra by kissing and undressing her, he couldn't fulfill the act due to impotence.
As he tells Rhaenyra: marrying her is the only way out of the dishonorable hell he has created for himself. She wants the status quo to carry on while he can't stand to be her common whore while she's married to another man. That is simply just too many dishonorable things stacked on top of one another.
Daemon Targaryen reveals that Viserys never told him about Aegon's dream in House of the Dragon, confirming Daemon was never going to be his heir. WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for House of the Dragon's season 1 finale!
History. Magister Illyrio found Doreah in a pleasure house in Lys. Viserys Targaryen bedded her while he was a guest at Illyrio's manse.
Viserys' Last Words
In a romantic final bow, Viserys reaches out and whispers, “My love.” He's referring to his late wife, Queen Aemma Targaryen, who died in childbirth years ago, implying that he sees her and is reuniting with her in death.
