The study found that for conceptions between January and May, gestation length declined by about a week before shooting back up to average length in June. In terms of birth weight, summer was the best time to conceive.

Ever wondered why so many babies in the world are born around August and September? A study published in the journal, Human Reproduction has now found out that the chances of ahieving favourable results are higher around the late fall and early winter months.
Although some mums find having a summer baby easier, others love having their baby in the winter, as they feel as though they have received an extra Christmas present! Summer or winter, there's no evidence to show that your baby's season of birth affects what type of mum you'll be.
For example, if you want a summer baby born in July, your last period should be in October, and then you should conceive as soon as possible after that. On the other hand, if your last period is in March, it will probably be a December baby.
Getting more sun in pregnancy can lead to higher birth weight and later puberty for girls. Summary: Women who were born in the summer are more likely to be healthy adults, suggests new research.
"More babies are likely to be conceived around the Christmas/New Year holidays, resulting in more babies born in September and October. Fewer babies are born on public holidays - possibly a result of doctors scheduling deliveries on non-public holidays."
The least common birth month is predictably February, which only has 28 days.
December 25 (Christmas Day) is the least common birthday, while January 1 (New Year's Day) is the second least common. December 24 (Christmas Eve) also makes the list as the 3rd least common birthday while July 4 (Independence Day) is the 4th least common birthday.
September is the most popular month for birthdays
If you have ever wondered how common your birthday is, look no further. A heat map shared online reveals more people are born in September and July, while the rarest birthdays are in November, December and January.
So, although the 9th of September is the most common birthday in the world, it's time to look at what may influence more people to conceive nine months before that – that is, mid-December, or the 9th if you'd like to be precise.
February 3rd is the only day where no one in history has ever been born. Despite much scientific study, there is no explanation for this phenomena. Historically it has been referred to as “the empty day” or “nobody's birthday”.
What is a Golden Birthday? Your golden birthday is when the date of your birth coincides with your age. For example, if you were born on October 8, your golden birthday took place when you turned 8. If you were born on December 21, your golden birthday took place when you turned 21.
Those that are born in July are either a Cancer or Leo. Cancer birthdays fall between June 21 – July 22, while Leo birthdays fall between July 23 – August 22. Cancer babies are often known for being caring, protective and empathetic.
Most babies (91%) in Australia are born at term (37–41 weeks). This is similar across the states and territories and has been stable over time.
Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare genetic condition that makes skin so fragile that it can tear or blister at the slightest touch. Children born with it are often called “Butterfly Children” because their skin seems as fragile as a butterfly wing.
How Big Are Newborns? Newborns come in a range of healthy sizes. Most babies born between 37 and 40 weeks weigh somewhere between 5 pounds, 8 ounces (2,500 grams) and 8 pounds, 13 ounces (4,000 grams). Newborns who are lighter or heavier than the average baby are usually fine.
The tallest and heaviest were born in June, July or August, followed by those in the autumn months of September, October and November.
Studies have shown that babies born in the summer are less likely to have SAD than winter babies. Like with the mouse experiment mentioned earlier, the theory is that the type and amount of sunlight that summer offers to a newborn makes them better equipped to handle changes in their environment than winter light does.
They found that in North America, pregnant people have a 44 per cent higher risk of having an early miscarriage in the summer than in the winter – in particular, in the month of August in comparison to February.
Now extensive research conducted over a seven-year period appears to prove that babies born in the winter are more likely to grow into big, bright and successful adults than their summer counterparts.
They Have a Happier and More Cheerful Temperament
Winter babies are also known to have a summer disposition – meaning they are more cheerful than summer babies!
The same study found that winter (and spring) middle to upper-class babies may actually be smarter than those born in the summer and fall. That's right, researchers studied newborns and followed up at age 7, and something about being born in the winter linked the children to higher intelligence!
