Pine Prime, made in Korea, had the highest level of 15mg of tar per cigarette, followed by the United States' Philip Morris Menthol, Hong Kong's Good Companion Deluxe and China's Wuyeshen, all with 14mg. The average level of tar among all the brands tested was 8.4 mg per cigarette.
The newly released study found that Philip Morris' Marlboro, which are made using highly sophisticated production techniques, contain significantly higher levels of one of the most dangerous carcinogens found in tobacco smoke than locally made brands in countries around the world.

1: Vaping is less harmful than smoking, but it's still not safe. E-cigarettes heat nicotine (extracted from tobacco), flavorings and other chemicals to create an aerosol that you inhale. Regular tobacco cigarettes contain 7,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic.
Studies have found that cigar smoke contains higher levels of toxic chemicals than cigarette smoke, although unlike cigarette smoke, cigar smoke is often not inhaled (11). Cigar smoking causes cancer of the oral cavity, larynx, esophagus, and lung. It may also cause cancer of the pancreas.

Are e-cigarettes less harmful than regular cigarettes? Yes—but that doesn't mean e-cigarettes are safe. E-cigarette aerosol generally contains fewer toxic chemicals than the deadly mix of 7,000 chemicals in smoke from regular cigarettes. However, e-cigarette aerosol is not harmless.
In laboratory tests on all 135 varieties of domestically available cigarettes, the commission rated regular ‐ sized' Carlton filters as the least dangerous, with 2 milligrams oU tar and 0.2 milligrams of nicotine per cigarette.
Tar yields range from a low of about 8 mg per cigarette to a high of about 43 mg per cigarette. Nicotine yields, which closely correlate with tar yields in most cases, range from about 0.3 to 2.6 mg per cigarette. There are substantial differences among cigarettes of the same general type.

That means over their smoking lifetime, they take in more of toxic chemicals and tar from cigarettes.
Light cigarettes have nicotine levels of 0.6 to 1 milligrams, while regular cigarettes contain between 1.2 and 1.4 milligrams.
Study finds some individuals have genetic variants that allow them to have long-term exposure to a carcinogen without developing lung cancer.
Conclusions Smoking only about one cigarette per day carries a risk of developing coronary heart disease and stroke much greater than expected: around half that for people who smoke 20 per day. No safe level of smoking exists for cardiovascular disease.
