Consuming flavonoid-rich citrus fruits like oranges, lemons and grapefruit may decrease inflammation in your body, which can reduce blood pressure and stiffness in your arteries while improving blood flow.
Fruits: Raisins, prunes, dried figs, apricots, apples, grapes and watermelons not only get the red blood cells flowing but also improve the blood count. Citrus fruits like oranges, amla or Indian gooseberry, lime and grapefruit help to attract iron. They play a very important role in increasing blood count.
Prune juice, olives and mulberries are the three types of fruit with the highest iron concentration per portion. These fruit also contain antioxidants and a variety of other nutrients beneficial to health.
The lowdown. Consuming drinks like tomato juice, beet juice, pomegranate juice, and skimmed milk as part of a balanced, healthy diet can help you manage high blood pressure.
Pomegranate
Consuming pomegranate — as a juice, raw fruit, or supplement — may improve blood flow and oxygenation of muscle tissue, which could especially aid active individuals.
Dried fruit provides significant amounts of iron, with each cup of dried apricots containing 7.5 milligrams and a cup of prunes containing 4.7 milligrams. Cooked green leafy vegetables are also good sources of iron, with each cup of boiled spinach containing 6.3 milligrams.
All the fruits in the berry-family, including strawberries, cranberries, and blueberries are significant blood thinners.
Kale. Vitamin K helps in blood clotting by enabling your body to make proteins involved in the blood clotting process. Clotting is important because it helps prevent your body from bleeding too much. Kale is the vitamin K king.
Beets. This root vegetable is rich in nitrate, which your body can convert to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps to naturally loosen up your blood vessels and improve the flow of blood to your tissues and organs.
Batra mentioned, “Beetroot is one of the best ways to increase haemoglobin levels. It is not only high in iron content, but also folic acid along with potassium and fibre. Drink beetroot juice every day to ensure a healthy blood count.”
rutin in apples is a better blood-thinner than any medication We have always maintained that food is our best medicine.
Foods with salicylate, such as avocados, some berries, chilies, and cherries, may also keep blood from clotting.
Dark chocolate thins the blood and performs the same anti-clotting activity as aspirin. Many doctors recommend baby aspirin to reduce our risk of heart attack or stroke. Researchers at University of California, Davis have found that dark chocolate has a similar effect.
Leafy Greens
The highest sources include parsley, kale and Swiss chard. One cup of raw parsley contains 984 micrograms of vitamin K; a cup of raw kale contains 472 micrograms; and 1 cup of raw Swiss chard contains 299 micrograms.
Other signs of thin blood include nosebleeds and abnormally heavy menstrual flow. Thin blood can also cause bruises to appear under the skin. A minor bump can cause the tiny blood vessels under the skin to bleed. This can result in purpura, which are small purple, red, or brown bruises.
Water helps to thin the blood, which in turn makes it less likely to form clots, explains Jackie Chan, Dr. P.H., the lead study author. But don't chug your extra H2O all at once. "You need to drink water throughout the day to keep your blood thin, starting with a glass or two in the morning," adds Dr.
However, if you have a condition that requires you to take blood-thinning medication, you might want to be cautious. Broccoli doesn't thin your blood, but the vitamin K in broccoli can inhibit your anticoagulant medication. Talk to your doctor about how much broccoli you can safely include in your diet.
Drinking purple grape juice may turn out to be as effective as taking a daily aspirin to prevent the formation of blood clots that can lead to heart attacks.
Grapes may also cause problems if you have irritable bowel syndrome. They contain insoluble fiber that could stimulate the gastrointestinal tract (5). If you have IBS, ensure you do not eat them on an empty stomach. If you have indigestion or an upset stomach, consuming ginger juice might help.
Because black, green, and red grapes contain high levels of naturally occurring antioxidants, the fruits may reduce hypertension that can lead to heart failure, shows the study, published in the October issue of the Journal of Gerontology: Biological Sciences.
