Silver Mines Limited ($SVL)
The Bowdens Project is considered to be the largest undeveloped silver deposit in Australia. Together with the neighbouring Barabolar Project the company has consolidated land holdings of 2,007km.

Peñasquito Mine, Mexico
The mine consists of two open-pit, polymetallic mines, Peñasco and Chile Colorado, which make it the biggest open-pit mine. Peñasquito extracts gold, copper, and lead alongside silver. Peñasquito has the world's largest silver reserves, which are expected to be around 869.52 Moz.
Needing no introduction, BHP Group comes in at number one. The Australian mining giant works in over 90 locations over six continents, but is mainly concentrated in Australia and Canada. BHP produces essential commodities through their assets, including iron ore, copper, nickel, potash and metallurgical coal.
Such discoveries include the Scuddles mine (140 metres deep) in Western Australia, the Cannington deposit (10 metres deep) in north Queensland, the Hellyer mine (90 metres deep) in Tasmania and the Wilga deposit in Victoria (50 metres below the surface).

The company is responsible for 1/3 of all silver produced in the United States and holds the largest silver reserve and resource in the country. In Q2 2020 Hecla produced 3.4 million ounces of silver and 59,982 ounces of gold while recognizing 24% higher revenue over the prior year period.
JP Morgan now holds 133.1 million ounces of physical silver and the world record for most silver held under one name. Today, it also owns 50% of the world's COMEX silver bullion.
Australia is now the fourth largest silver producer globally, with an annual output of 42.9 million ounces in 2021.

Mexico's silver mines produced some 6,300 metric tons of silver in 2022, making Mexico the world's largest silver producer. China and Peru ranked second and third, respectively that year.

According to the Silver Institute, 822.6 million ounces of silver were mined in 2021, with another 176 million ounces supplied by recycling. The Silver Institute expects 1.017 billion ounces of silver to be available in 2022, but demand is expected to exceed supply by about 200 million ounces.
The release of the 2023 Forbes list of Australia's 50 richest people has seen major miners take out the top two spots. Hancock Prospecting executive chairman Gina Rinehart took out the top spot with a net worth of $30.6 billion, followed closely by Fortescue Metals executive chairman Andrew Forrest.
