After the Battle of Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall returned to her position as headmistress of Hogwarts.
Following Lord Voldemort's defeat at the hands of her student Harry Potter and the deaths of Headmasters Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape, McGonagall takes the position of Headmistress.
Following Albus Dumbledore's death, Professor McGonagall took over as the Headmistress of Hogwarts.
J.K. Rowling responds: Dumbledore is a hundred and fifty, and Professor McGonagall is a sprightly seventy. Wizards have a much longer life expectancy than Muggles.
Riddle is 9 years OLDER than McGonagall.
This means Professor McGonagall, whom we initially thought was 56 during Harry's first year at Hogwarts (1991), was actually closer to 101.
Harry is the Heir of Gryffindor (though his powers have been bound by his father when he was a baby), Neville is the Heir of Hufflepuff, Meghan (OFC, daughter of Sirius) is the Heir of Ravenclaw.
History of Slytherin
The Head of Slytherin is Horace Slughorn (who left the role to Severus Snape for fifteen years before taking it up again in 1996) and the House's patron ghost is the Bloody Baron.
Horace Slughorn (1997 - present) Horace, after being convinced by Dumbledore and Harry Potter, returned to Hogwarts as the Potions master. After Severus killed Dumbledore and became headmaster of Hogwarts, it was decided that Horace was to become the Head of Slytherin House once again.
For example, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Snape was reluctant to fight McGonagall when the latter took him to a duel in front of Hogwarts students. Both characters had their strengths, but the last Harry Potter movie proved Snape was the strongest Hogwarts professor.
Harry describes Umbridge to Sirius Black, saying that she's vile enough to be a Death Eater, despite not being one. Umbridge is also depicted to be a prejudiced person, despising half-breeds and Muggle-born witches and wizards to the point of firing Hagrid due to his half-giant birth status.
This nuance was lost on Lord Voldemort, who wrongly assumed Severus Snape held the Elder Wand because he was Dumbledore's killer, when in reality Draco had disarmed Dumbledore before Snape arrived on the scene, making Malfoy the wand's true new owner.
Phineas Nigellus Black, who to this day remains the least popular headmaster Hogwarts has ever known, makes little effort to hide the utter disdain he has for his students. He is a cantankerous, lazy and vain pure-blood with a myopic view of the world and a condescending and unjustifiably superior attitude.
The headmaster in Hogwarts Legacy is none other than the notorious Phineas Nigellus Black, often known as the least liked principal in the history of the magical school. He was given the position by the Ministry of Magic, which he only accepted due to the prestige that came with the role.
Simon Pegg joins Harry Potter world as Sirius Black ancestor in Hogwarts Legacy.
In the Chamber itself, we see a large statue of a wizard, which Harry presumes is Salazar Slytherin. We also meet Tom Riddle, who is, as it turns out, the heir of Slytherin. Present only in spirit, he has all the same been controlling Ginny, and having her act as Slytherin's heir.
Her real parents were Daneel and Dean Novak, Pureblooded wizards. Turns out Daneel was Tom Riddles younger sister, Daneel Riddle. Of course, the Riddles were related to Salzar Slytherin himself, and this made Hermione the living heir of Slytherin. The problem with being a female Slytherin heir, is that they're cursed.
Minerva McGonagall:
She wears square glasses and an emerald-green cloak. Professor McGonagall is head of Gryffindor house and is the Transfiguration teacher.
Neither of them is Slytherin's heir. Although, as Dumbledore says, Harry's ability to speak Parseltongue is a skill accidentally transferred by Slytherin's actual heir, Voldemort, when he tried to kill Harry as a baby. So perhaps this is one myth with a bit of truth to it.
While it's true that Voldemort is a descendant of Salazar Slytherin, he is the “Heir of Slytherin” because he is a parselmouth and he figures out he needs to communicate with the basilisk to open the Chamber of Secrets. Tom Riddle, Jr simply appropriates the title “Heir of Slytherin” for himself.
The Heir of Hufflepuff was none other than Cedric Diggory, who was well on his way to fulfilling the prophecy of the Heir of Hufflepuff when he was tragically murdered by Peter Pettigrew. Thus, the prophecy would remain unfulfilled forever.
Rowling said in an interview that Dumbledore was about 150 years old. However, on her website, she states that Dumbledore was born in 1881, making him either 115 or 116 at the time of his death.
This would possibly the character of McGonagall over 100 years old around the time of the Harry Potter books. The official online resource for Harry Potter, WizardingWorld.com, confirms this discrepancy, listing McGonagall's date of birth as 4 October 1935.
She Screams When Harry 'Dies'
And this tips Minerva over the edge, with the Transfiguration teacher letting out a horrendous scream that pierces the air. Harry is actually alive, of course, but he's shocked that McGonagall could make such a noise.
