Michael Robert Hamilton Holmes à Court (27 July 1937 – 2 September 1990) was a South African-born Australian businessman who became Australia's first billionaire, before dying suddenly of heart failure in 1990 at the age of 53.
Current activities
Holmes à Court is a member of the Lord Mayor's City of Sydney Business Forum. In April 2010 he was appointed as head of the 'Greater Sydney Partnership', a NSW Government initiative to promote Sydney globally.
Holmes à Court married Katrina von Möller, sister of the Australian film director Karl von Möller, in 1997 at Hydra, Greece. They have four children together. Holmes à Court and his wife have a 36-hectare off-grid farm in Daylesford, Victoria, living there during Melbourne's lockdown.
