As Dick passes into the afterlife, he is transformed into Deadwing by the deity Rama Kushan (also voiced by Bailey), and set back to Earth to help end the battle of heroes.
The deity tells him he's got a role to play still as the world stands on a precipice. Outside of the Batman vs. Superman rivalry and their factions, there's another apocalypse at hand, thus Rama Kushna turns Dick into a version of Deadman called Deadwing.
Though dead on the alternate Earth, in the Year Three comic series, Dick Grayson is chosen to become the new Deadman.
