Dumbledore and
As Albus would rationalize later with Newt, his spell was meant to protect, and it canceled out Grindelwald's, which was meant to kill a Dumbledore.
Along with Albus Dumbledore, that's when we first learn about the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Regardless of Grindelwald's powers, we can tell that he was not a more powerful wizard than the great Albus Dumbledore.
The blood pact was finally broken when Dumbledore and his brother Aberforth shielded Credence Barebone from Grindelwald's Killing Curse, inadvertently violating the terms of the pact, rendering it void. The blood pact fell to the ground and shattered, instantly enabling the two to duel each other.
As far as we knew, Dumbledore and Grindelwald didn't meet until 1945, when Dumbledore famously defeated Grindelwald in a duel and took the Elder Wand.
His exploits took him to Godric's Hollow, where he hoped to find a lead on the Cloak of Invisibility. Instead, he met a bitter, frustrated Albus Dumbledore. Grindelwald was infatuated with Dumbledore.
The name Gellert Grindelwald only appears in the archives later – in the first volume of the Harry Potter series where he is mentioned only briefly on the back of Albus Dumbledore's chocolate frog card.
He didn't block it. He enchanted a statue to jump in the curses path to be hit instead of the curse hitting Dumbledore. There is no way to block the curse - otherwise countless people could have easily been saved. The Abada Kedavra has no counter, cannot be blocked and is irreversible.
Albus confirms to Creedence early on in the film that he is in fact a Dumbledore, quashing any rumor that Grindelwald had lied to the young boy in order to sway him to his movement. It is explained that Credence is the illegitimate son of Albus's younger brother, Aberforth (Richard Coyle).
Tragically, even though Credence was saved from Grindelwald's Avada Kedavra, he is dying because of his Obscurus (having survived so long only because of the powerful magic within him).
1. Albus Dumbledore. Image Via Warner Bros. Dumbledore (Richard Harris and Michael Gambon) may not have been the one to ultimately defeat Voldemort, but he was frequently cited as the only person Voldemort ever feared -- meaning he was the main rival of both of the most infamous Dark wizards in modern history.
After a careful investigation, the user suggested that it may have been Alison's makeup that made the difference. They added, “[It] really changes her face in my opinion; she's still beautiful if not more so.” More research proves that Alison was pregnant while filming, which could also explain things.
Albus was fascinated by Grindelwald's research on the Deathly Hallows and ideas of wizarding domination, and their friendship soon turned into a romantic relationship, in which Albus fell in love with Grindelwald.
Grindelwald was too powerful. It is said Voldemort feared Dumbledore. And Grindelwald was almost equal to Dumbledore. Voldemort wouldn't want a follower who was potentially more powerful than him.
Recall that, as the “Half-Blood Prince,” Snape was born to a witch and a Muggle. His mother Eileen Prince was born in the 1930s. As Fantastic Beasts is set in 1926, the timing checks out for Credence to be her father.
He's not. He's Corvus Lestrange, the son of Corvus Lestrange Snr and his second wife, Clarisse Lestrange née Tremblay. He has an older half-sister, Leta, from his father's first marriage with Laurena Kama. At some point, Credence was separated from his birth family at a young age.
But Credence is dying as a result of his Obscurus curse, and it's very likely Aberforth will only get to spend just a short amount of precious time with his son. This is the root of Credence not being mentioned in the Harry Potter series.
Though Harry encountered many opportunities that deemed Avada Kedavra necessary, it remains as one of the Unforgivable Curses Harry Potter never cast. For one, he viewed the spell as an immoral practice commonly used by users of the Dark Arts.
In order to conjure the avada kedavra curse, you have to want to kill your victim. We all know that Voldemort could easily kill a child without an ounce of remorse... but not Snape. Snape didn't want to kill Dumbledore, and this was why the spell was blue instead of the usual green.
Harry became so enamoured with the spell that he eventually used it to finish off Lord Voldemort. Here's how Harry's relationship with Expelliarmus became his signature – and why that's a good and bad thing.
Well, that settles that. The Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows, is definitely in Grindelwald's possession during the events of this movie. There is simply no mistaking its recognisable berry-esque carvings that we remember oh-so-well from the Harry Potter films.
Another established rule that Fantastic Beasts 3 retcons is that the killing curse is supposed to be unblockable by any typical protective spell. At the end of Fantastic Beasts 3 though, Grindelwald attempts to use Avada Kedavra on Credence, but Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore successfully block it using golden magic.
James inherited the cloak from his father, Fleamont Potter, who inherited it as a descendant of Iolanthe Peverell -- a granddaughter of Ignotus Peverell. The cloak passed down through generations of the family until it reached James and then Harry.
