When a nurse comes delivering lunch, Hector purposefully knocks a cup of water over so he can leer at the nurse's posterior as she bends over.
Bruckner dismisses Hector knocking over a water glass as involuntary, but Gus sees that Hector did it purposely so he could ogle the nurse who cleaned it up. Gus tells Bruckner to end treatment, in effect trapping Hector's healed mind inside his unhealed body.
Meanwhile, Kim recovers at home from her wounds from the car crash, and Hector collapses from a stroke caused by Nacho. The episode was seen by an estimated 1.85 million household viewers upon release, the most watched episode of the third season.
It was a stroke. This was revealed in the 2nd season when he and Jesse are reunited after Hank shot Tuco.
Gus Fring's verbal beat-down also confirms (if it wasn't already clear) that the real reason he didn't let Hector die from a heart attack in Better Call Saul season 3 was because he wanted the Salamanca patriarch to watch everything and everyone he loved die before kicking the bucket himself.
Gus and Max's relationship was long implied to be more than business before their confirmation as lovers by showrunner Peter Gould in 2022.
He Only Looked Gus In The Eye Once
Throughout the entirety of Breaking Bad, Hector is adamant about never looking Gus in the eye, while the latter constantly tortures the former into doing the same because of a previous instance when Hector killed Gus's partner and forced him to look upon the eyes of his dead friend.
A member of the Salamanca family, Hector is the son of Abuelita, the uncle of twins Marco and Leonel, Lalo, and Tuco, and is the grandfather of Joaquin. He raised Tuco as a son, and taught him and his other nephews that family is everything, living by the creed himself.
Hector is a former drug agent who worked for Don Eladio. His family members are very involved in the drug business. After an unexplained incident, he's left paralyzed in most of his body and can't speak or move on his own. His only means of communication is the bell on his wheelchair.
Trivia. In an online 2013 article by Bustle, Todd Alquist was ranked as being the third most evil character on Breaking Bad, being surpassed only by Tuco Salamanca and his uncle Jack Welker. In addition, Todd is also one of the most hated characters in the series due to his heinous actions.
If Hector is a tragic hero, than his tragic flaw would be his stubbornness to accept the force of fate and his own delusional belief in a Trojan victory. But beneath these flaws are the works of understandable human feelings; Hector does all this because of his desire to protect Troy, his people and his family.
The gods argue back and forth, but eventually Zeus, the king of the gods, sends Achilles' mother, Thetis, to request that Achilles return the body of Hector to the dead man's father for a ransom of gold. Achilles agrees in order to show respect for the gods.
Pietro Testa (1611–1650), Achilles dragging the body of Hector around the walls of Troy. Etching, 1648–50. Achilles, with his lust for revenge still not satisfied, deliberately mistreats the body of Hector, tying him to his chariot and dragging him behind in the dirt as he drives back to the Greek camp.
Not looking at Gus is a sign of disrespect. Hector hates Gus but doesn't have a lot of ways of showing it. He's been reduced to a little man in a wheelchair while Gus just keeps growing in power and influence. Since he happily shot Gus' lover, Max, he has to know that Gus revels in his misery.
Nacho realizes Hector suffers from angina and decides to try to kill him by replacing his nitroglycerin with ibuprofen in the hopes of inducing a fatal heart attack.
He didn't kill Gus because of connections that he may have had/who he was in Chile, which was never disclosed. Had the Don wanted to do business, Hector would not have killed Max, without permission.
Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) ranks relatively low when taking into account only his actions and condition in the Breaking Bad series. He uses a wheelchair, and must ring a bell to speak. He could be meaner and more evil if he were physically able, which fans see in Better Call Saul.
After learning that Hector could potentially walk and speak again, he discontinued Hector's therapy to trap him in his current state. Nacho was also forced into working for Gus as he was aware of his attempt to kill Hector.
He was angry because Nacho Varga betrayed his family, and wouldn't reveal the source of his co-conspirator. He was angry because he couldn't convince anyone that his nephew Lalo was killed by Fring. Eladio chooses to mock him, instead of heeding his warning of Fring's treachery.
The cousins both showed dedication to family, which was instilled in them by their uncle, Hector, who taught them that family was the most important thing in life, and was exemplified by their dedication to avenge the death of their cousin, Tuco who was killed by D.E.A. agent Hank Schrader.
Numerous characters in television shows are informally described as psychopaths. Examples include Natalie Buxton in Bad Girls, Sean Slater and Michael Moon in EastEnders, Dexter Morgan in Dexter, Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and Frank Underwood in House of Cards.
A member of the Salamanca family, Hector is the son of Abuelita, the uncle of twins Marco and Leonel, Lalo, and Tuco, and is the grandfather of Joaquin.
Hector hates Jesse and Walt for their involvement in Tuco's death and attempted poisoning of him, but he hates the feds more, and so refuses to rat out Jesse.
Lalo is one of many nephews of Hector Salamanca, an enforcer of Don Eladio Vuente's drug cartel. After Hector suffers a stroke, Lalo arrives from Mexico to help run the family drug operation in Albuquerque; he takes a greater interest in the day-to-day details of the operation than Hector did.
Gus Fring's Death Is Possible (But Not Realistic)
The blast wave severely injured his right side - but it didn't hit his vital organs, which could explain why Gustavo Fring's death in Breaking Bad wasn't immediate. Much of Gus' head and face was injured, but his skull was still intact.
