When Voldemort returned, Lucius once again served him as a Death Eater, leading the efforts to obtain the prophecy Voldemort sought. In the battle that ensued, the prophecy was destroyed, and Lucius and his comrades were imprisoned in Azkaban in 1996.
Because he and his family defected from the Death Eaters they were pardoned for their crimes after Voldemort's final defeat and did not serve a stint in Azkaban.
When Voldemort showed up once again, Lucius became a Death Eater once more, leading the charge to receive the prophecy Voldemort sought. The prophecy was defeated in the ensuing war, and Lucius and his companions were imprisoned in Azkaban in 1996.
Draco's father is a Death Eater. As a result of the big battle in the Ministry of Magic in Book 5 and as a result of failing to steal the prophecy of Harry from the Ministry of Magic, he's spending his time in Azkaban Prison.
'Is Draco alive? Is he in the castle? ' The whisper was barely audible; her lips were an inch from his ear, her head bent so low that her long hair shielded his face from the onlookers.
The first time, it was his own mother dying for his sake, which created the magical protection that saved him. The second time, it was Narcissa's love of her own son which motivated her to lie to Voldemort, ensuring Harry's survival.

That's not a joke, he actually doesn't work. Rowling shared on Pottermore, “Independently wealthy, without any need to work, Draco inhabits Malfoy Manor with his wife and son.” He lives off of inheritance money!, so the lucky man can dedicate his life to hobbies without the stress of making money.
Myth 6: the Malfoys are heirs of Slytherin
So it's a surprise to find out Malfoy's as confused as everyone else. The only thing he is heir to is his family name, and as his father doesn't see fit to tell him about plans their house-elf Dobby is aware of, it seems he has a way to go yet…
Dumbledore knew for sure that Lucius Malfoy is a Death Eater. The problem was that Dumbledore didn't have any authority to do something about it on his own and he didn't have enough physical evidence to prove it in front of the Wizengamot.
Rowling is adamant that Malfoy didn't deserve a redemption arc because there was never a “heart of gold” underneath his pompous act. Yet, she gave that redemption to a character she said was morally grey; a man who bullied children and killed because of a girl who rejected him years before.
Why? The main reason is that Lucius failed to retrieve the prophecy from the Ministry of Magic, put that on top of all the other times Lucius failed, and it leads to him losing any clout he once carried within the Death Eaters. Lucius did that for his own benefit - he was trying to discredit Arthur weasley.
They decided that they had had enough of Voldemort and his plan. It was a very bold move, because if Voldemort had not perished, they'd have probably been hunted down and punished for their treason.
Following his failure to obtain an important prophecy at the end of Order of the Phoenix, Lucius is sent to Azkaban for a while until Voldemort breaks him out, although he doesn't play much of a role in the series going forward.
Narcissa's greatest moment, however, was when she chose to betray Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Not knowing whether Draco was alive or dead, Narcissa chose to lie to the Dark Lord rather than risk losing her son.
When Lucius turns on Voldemort due to the reveal of his Horcruxes, Narcissa divorces him, taking 75% of Malfoy's wealth with her.
The Heir of Slytherin turns out to be Ginny Weasley, who is being controlled via a magical diary that once belonged to Tom Riddle, AKA Voldemort.
We also meet Tom Riddle, who is, as it turns out, the heir of Slytherin. Present only in spirit, he has all the same been controlling Ginny, and having her act as Slytherin's heir. We also meet the Monster of the Chamber, a basilisk.
Harry is the magical Heir of Gryffindor (and he's also a descendent of Godric), Neville of Hufflepuff, Hermione of Slytherin and Luna of Ravenclaw.
Draco Malfoy attended Fred Weasley's funeral. He stood in the far back, careful not to be seen, and after he thought everyone had left, he lingered a bit. He'd never let on that he secretly thought the twins were quite funny, and he was truly sorry he'd been part of the reason that Fred died.
Furious at the world that seemed suddenly to have turned on his father, Draco accepted full membership of the Death Eaters and agreed to perform the murder Voldemort ordered.
Malfoy spots Harry and casts a Cruciatus curse; Harry, defending himself, using the Half-Blood Prince's Sectumsempra spell without knowing its effects. To his horror, it gashes Draco's face and chest, spilling his blood everywhere. Moaning Myrtle flies off, screaming.
Voldemort intentionally made six Horcruxes, but when he used Avada Kedavra on Harry, he unintentionally created a seventh Horcrux. Instead of dying, Lily's love for Harry created a counter 'curse' known as Sacrificial Protection and saved Harry.
We know the Elder Wand allied with Draco Malfoy, who disarmed rather than killed Albus Dumbledore. It later switched its loyalty to Harry Potter during his escape from Malfoy Manor.
She asked him because if Draco was still alive, she had something to fight for. She had a reason to lie to Voldemort. If Draco is alive, she needs to get into the school to see him and protect him, and helping Harry feign death was the easiest way to do that. But if Draco was already dead, she wouldn't have bothered.
