Robert's kids all sort of look like him, but Rhaegar's children don't look like him, they look like their mother. Robert does have some
It isn't explicitly stated in the show, but because we learn after episode six that all three boys have dark brown hair — and despite Rhaenyra and Laenor's matching blond color — it has been strongly implied that they are actually the children of Ser Harwin Strong, the Lord Commander of the City Watch.
Fans concluded the Targaryen genes were recessive, but when it came to children of a Targaryen male and non-Valyrian mother their first would be born with darker features, while subsequent offspring were blonde.
Though Rhaenyra is married to Laenor Velaryon, all three of the young princes have brown hair, instead of the signature platinum locks that the Targaryens and Velaryons are known for.
Jacaerys Velaryon Is Rhaenyra's Firstborn Son and Heir
Firstborn son of Rhaenyra and her first husband Laenor Velaryon, Jacaerys was affectionately known to his family as Jace.
Aegon III, aka Aegon the Younger: Rhaenyra and Daemon's first child together.
Prosthetic designer confirms: the baby was deformed
“When the babe at last came forth, she proved indeed a monster: a stillborn girl, twisted and malformed, with a hole in her chest where her heart should have been and a stubby, scaled tail. The dead girl had been named Visenya.
The true parentage of Rhaenyra's three eldest children is still unclear. Despite these rumors, there was no doubt that King Viserys meant for Rhaenyra to succeed him as heir, and for her sons to follow her. By royal decree, each of Rhaenyra's Velaryon sons was given a dragon egg in the cradle.
They casted them younger for a reason. Aegon and Aemond actors are in their twenties while Jace and Luke actors are in their teens. Besides the obvious age difference, Aegon and Aemond are clearly being trained to fight by Criston.
In the first book of the series on which “Game of Thrones” is based, the author, George R.R. Martin described the Targaryens as possessing a “striking (some say inhuman) beauty, with lilac or indigo or violet eyes and hair of silver-gold or platinum white.”
According to the accounts of Septon Eustace, prior to her turning sixteen, Rhaenyra lost her virginity to her uncle, Prince Daemon, after he seduced her.
Likely wanting some sort of control over the situation, Rhaenyra pulls her baby out in order to stop the pain.
Rhaenyra's baby died during childbirth.
According to the book Visenya, like Maegor the cruel's children, was born with scaled dragon-like skin and a small tail. Apparently, she was also missing her heart and instead had a hole in her chest.
If two brunette parents both have a recessive blonde gene, there's a 25% chance they'll each pass down their recessive gene, resulting in a blonde child.
1 Daemon Probably Loves Rhaenyra
However, Fire & Blood gives some insights into Daemon's character, which House of the Dragon only touches on in the last episodes of Season 1. Daemon shows his genuine care and attention to Rhaenyra several times before the two marry.
The episode doesn't really beat around the bush when revealing that Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr) is the father of Rhaenyra's children. He's there soon after baby Joffrey is born so he can meet him, and later on in the episode Jacaerys (Leo Hart) even asks his mom if Harwin is his real dad.
King Aerys II Targaryen ("The Mad King")
The final undisputed monarch of the Seven Kingdoms from House Targaryen, King Aerys II Targaryen is widely known as the "Mad King" who was usurped by King Robert I Baratheon. Aerys II is a direct descendant of King Viserys I Targaryen through his daughter Rhaenyra.
Daemon's impotence gives him an all-too-human weakness. It proves he has vulnerabilities and insecurities. It shows that he is more than the iconic “Rogue Prince” of George R.R. Martin's books; he is a man with flaws. Most importantly, he's a man struggling to find a real connection with someone.
Everyone who was a teenager in House of the Dragon Episode 5 has now been recast in Episode 6. Rhaenyra, Alicent, Laenor, and Laena are all being played by older actors to show they're all grown up now and ready for their own Game of Thrones.
Rhaenyra Targaryen had a stillbirth in a gruesome scene from HOTD season one finale. Martin's book describes a worse child born to Rhaenyra. We all remember Rhaenyra's ghastly miscarriage scene from the season finale of House of the Dragon.
In the book, Visenya was described as being born with dragon-like defects, including scales, a tail, and a twisted body. Rhaenyra's baby did end up having scale-like defects and a malformed body in House of the Dragon, which aligns with the occasional reports of Targaryen women bearing dragon-like stillborn children.
With him, she found a love so deep it filled the void in her heart, not to mention her womb. In 196 AC, the year of their marriage, she painstakingly produced a set of twins, Aegon and Aella.
Rhaenyra has been pregnant with her daughter Visenya since House of the Dragon's latest and last time jump, and it is heartbreaking to see her deal with this loss. The way in which the scene plays out makes it especially disturbing. RELATED: House of the Dragon: Which Dragon is Daemon Singing To?
Daemon and Rhaenyra share two children together: Aegon III and Viserys II.
He doesn't only ignore Laena on the issue, though, he actively ignores his daughter Rhaena (Eva Ossei-Gerning) as well, perhaps because she doesn't own a dragon like her sister Baela (Shani Smethhurst) or her parents.
