If he were to take his mask off, the Sith Lord would soon suffocate. So it's the most crucial part of his armor. He can only breathe without the need for his mask when he is in one of his meditation chambers seen in The Empire Strikes Back.

In addition to causing content pain and itchiness, the suit is so constricting that it causes him to suffer from claustrophobia. He can only find relief by meditating in specially-constructed pressurized chambers where he can temporarily take off his suit and survive.
Affiliation. Kylo Ren's helmet was a combat helmet worn by Kylo Ren, master of the Knights of Ren and the dark side apprentice of Supreme Leader Snoke. Patterned on the battle gear of the Knights of Ren, the helmet concealed Ren's face, hiding his former identity as the Jedi apprentice Ben Solo.

This means that Vader has multiple suits. He just chooses not to change it, because doing so might remove Vader from his private cloister of brooding and meditation. This connection to the Dark Side, and not the physical armor he wears, makes Vader one of the most dangerous threats in the galaxy.

Darth Sidious, publicly known as Sheev Palpatine from Naboo, became the Dark Lord of The Sith after betraying and murdering his Sith Master Darth Plagueis. Sidious was the Dark Lord of the Sith during the last years of the Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire.

Galen Marek is the only one who came close to destroying the Sith Lord, thanks to his vast knowledge of Vader's fighting tactics through the many hours they trained together.
