In 1918 he was commissioned by Augustus Worme of Obscurus Books to write
Above everything else, however, is his unwavering kindness; from the beasts he looks after to the Obscurial Credence, Newt's affinity for all creatures and his care for their wellbeing is at the heart of his character. J.K. Rowling described Newt as an outsider.
Initially, Newt Scamander was only mentioned in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as the author of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which was used as a textbook for Care of Magical Creatures by Harry Potter and his classmates.
“The reason he loves Newt is that Newt loves beasts and I think he thinks he's a beast.” The actor continued: “I think he thinks he's dark, that he's seen and done things that he wishes he hadn't and he's constantly pulling himself back on the right moral side.”
Newt Scamandar is just a few years younger than Albus Dumbledore. He is not a contemporary of Harry and his friends. In the books he is mentioned only as the author of a textbook, and he never appears as a guest lecturer, let alone a teacher. So there is no need for him to be in any of the Harry Potter movies.
Because Newt is 29 years old and the oldest we see Harry do magic is 17. We also usually only see Harry practicing magic in school or using defensive spells whereas Newt is using practical spells beyond what you would use in school. Well, in the books we do see a lot more than in the movies.
Eddie Redmayne, who plays the beloved Newt Scamander in the “Fantastic Beasts” films, said he believes Scamander is on the autism spectrum.
However, for this reason, Newt is more compelling than Harry. Even by his first appearance, the young magizoologist has traveled to places like Egypt and Africa in his pursuit of magical creatures. He's also past his Hogwarts days, becoming Dumbledore's favorite student.
We know that he was writing the forewords to a new edition of his book where he confirmed his role in the capture of Grindelwald (as shown in the Fantastic Beasts movie) in 2017, so he did become at least 119–120 years old, but he might simply have been too old to fight.
He's Luna Lovegood's grandfather-in-law
Luna Lovegood ends up marrying Rolf Scamander, who is Newt's grandson. If grandson is anything like his grandfather — which is quite likely, as both are magizoologists — that means we can expect Newt to be a bit of an eccentric. His family history supports this.
Luna Scamander (nee Lovegood) is a character in the Harry Potter franchise. She is a friend of Harry Potter's, first meeting him in their fourth and fifth years respectively. At the end of the Wizarding War, Luna married Rolf Scamander, the grandson of Newt Scamander, and had two sons, Lorcan and Lysander.
When Newt and his best friend, Leta Lestrange, were 16, Leta's illegal experiment with a magical beast called a Jarvey endangered the life of a fellow student. However, Newt took the blame for the incident, resulting in him getting expelled from Hogwarts.
However, one theory justifies Newt's appearance on the Marauder's Map. It is possible that Newt may have been in Hogwarts to try to save Buckbeak, the hippogriff, from execution. This makes sense given Newt's background and the Harry Potter timeline.
Newton Artemis Fido "Newt" Scamander is a half-blood or pure blood wizard who is a framed magizoologist and the main protagonist of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise.
Newt Scamander isn't without a superpower of his own, he is a wizard after all, but his autism, be it Asperger's Syndrome or something else, is not connected to it in any way. The fact that Newt's apparent autism isn't remarked on in the film is actually quite fitting for the time period of the film.
He hunches, seems skittish around people, and often avoids eye contact. All of this anti-social behavior falls in line with Newt's introverted personality, but one Reddit user has a different theory. Newt acts this way because he approaches people the same way he approaches animals.
Newt is the hero of the new Fantastic Beasts movies, and, while the young wizard may not seem extremely powerful at first, it wouldn't be a stretch to say he's more powerful than Voldemort.
But in a toss-up between the Hogwarts headmaster and his young protégé, Dumbledore comes out on top. Think about it: he won every award as a student, while Harry just squeaks by; he founds the Order of the Phoenix long before Harry ever joins; and he teaches young Harry pretty much everything he knows.
There are remarkable resemblances between them – both were outsiders at Hogwarts, both were unceremoniously expelled from the school, and both thought that the wider wizarding community misunderstood the beauty of magical creatures.
Corban Yaxley was one of Voldemort's favorite servants. He was often chosen to go on secret missions for the Dark Lord, including the attempt to convert Horace Slughorn. Yaxley was proficient at coercion, manipulation, and the Imperius Curse.
However, Tina's and Newt's relationship became strained when a magazine erroneously printed that Newt was engaged to his former lover Leta Lestrange.
Redmayne believes that Scamander has Asperger's but would not have been diagnosed because the term was not widely used during his lifetime.

The two initially got off to a rough start after Tina followed him around while he caused trouble in a bank, and she kept having to demand he take action since he clearly did not want to. Eventually, she turned him in to MACUSA for the threat he was unintentionally posing to New York.
