Contrary to popular waxing myth, hair does not grow back thicker and darker after being waxed. Waxing actually weakens hair follicles making hair grow back thinner and slower. In fact, many clients will notice that after years of consistent waxing, hair in certain areas does not grow back at all.

Waxing cons

Each person is different, which means that it will take longer for some clients to regulate their hair regrowth cycle. In the meantime, it's normal to get mild stubble or new hairs growing days after a wax, but leaving these hairs alone until the next wax appointment is always the best choice.

NO hot shower or bath for at least 12 hours.
Directly after waxing your hair follicle is left open. This makes it susceptible hot water entering the open hair follicle during a shower or bath. This will irritate the area and create discomfort. Once your follicles close you can return to your normal bathing routine.
What all of this means is that an average Brazilian wax will only remove about 30% of hair by the root while it is in the Anagen phase. The majority of your hair is in the Telogen phase, so you are only removing the old, dead hair. This means that you can expect to see noticeable hair regrowth within 2 to 3 weeks.
Hair also grows back much thinner, thus making it easier to remove and less painful when waxed. Shaving just one time in between will negate all that is gained from waxing and can further irritate follicles which can cause ingrown hair. So, no, we don't advise shaving in between.
Put simply, you should avoid waxing if you have a chronic condition like lupus, AIDS, or any other disease that may compromise the skin barrier. Doctors also recommend steering clear of waxing if you take Accutane, or if you've stopped taking it less than six months to a year ago.
While waxing is considered to be better, you must keep in mind your skin type, hair texture and hair growth before making a decision. If you have sensitive skin, use a razor, as waxing may aggravate the rashes. If you have normal skin, go in for a wax.”
