Over five or so years, they became close, drinking whiskey, snorting cocaine and womanising together. Finn didn't realise that Billy was also working as an informant, telling Peaky Blinders secrets to the IRA.
As Den of Geek recaps, Finn became good friends with Billy Grade (Emmett J. Scanlan), an ex-footballer who works at the same betting shop where Finn works. But what Finn didn't know is that as he and Billy were palling around, Billy was leaking Peaky Blinder intel to the Irish Republican Army.
As advised by canny Charlie Strong (Ned Dennehy), Duke had emptied the first two chambers - enabling them to witness Finn's betrayal while remaining unscathed. His fate was sealed. Duke executed Billy, then told Finn he was excommunicated - by order of you-know-you.
From one brother to the other, Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton) is banished from the family for his role in bringing a traitor in Billy Grade (Emmett J. Scanlan) into the fold. Finn promises vengeance on Duke Shelby (Conrad Khan), Tommy's firstborn son and heir, ordering him banished by order of the Peaky Blinders.
Billy Grade Informed The IRA About The Mosley Assassination
In the last episode of Peaky Blinders season 5, Tommy's younger brother Finn Shelby naively talked about the assassination plan to Billy Grade, a supposed ally of the Peaky Blinders.
There's a theory on the Internet that Johnny Dogs, resentful of Aberama Gold's connection to the Shelbys, is the ultimate traitor. After all, Aberama had accused him of treason before and ended up being murdered in the attempted coup.
8 Aberama Gold
In season 5, Aberama got married to Polly, but their happiness did not last for last. First, Aberama lost his son to the Billy Boys, and then he began to plot the assassination of Jimmy McCavern, but before he could complete the task, Aberama was killed by the IRA.
That suggests that Tommy's handing on a mixture of "you're up, kidda" business stuff and straightforward "I'm gonna die, kidda" stuff. Certainly, that's what the direction and editing hints at. We see young Charles, buttoned up in his grey coat, looking distinctly miffed.
Despite the plan being a ruse, Tommy is upset with Michael for not warning him about it, since as far as he knew, he was letting Tommy die. Michael says that he did it to protect his mother.
Murphy explained to BBC that he rolls the cigarette filter in such a way, so that it doesn't stick. He said: “That comes from the fact that the cigarettes, we cut the filter off or do we leave the filter on I cannot recall, but anyway if you don't rub them across your lips initially, they will stick.
Arthur Shelby is Finn's oldest brother and the one he is closest to out of the four. He and Aunt Polly raised Finn when his mother died and his father abandoned the Shelby family. Maybe this is the reason why Arthur tries so hard to keep Finn out of the illegitimate business.
Finn was then asked to join the Resistance in its struggle against the First Order, but Finn initially refused, believing the First Order to be too powerful. He then confessed to Rey his true identity as a stormtrooper and stated that he was never going back to the First Order.
Billy Grade
But Billy was shot by Duke for leaking the plan to kill Mosley to the IRA and setting in motion the chain of events that led to Polly's death. Billy didn't have a great season: first he garrotes his first guy, then has his knackers garroted by Jack Nelson, then he dies.
Wham Line: Billy reveals what "that thing" he wanted to tell Finn is: his biological father is still alive, and imprisoned in the Citadel.
Martin was Finn's biological father who was locked up in the Citadel for unknown reasons. He was first mentioned towards the end of the Season 5 finale entitled "Billy's Bucket List" in which the late hero, Billy, informs Finn of him being alive and imprisoned in the Citadel.
Billy Grade is an Irish retired professional footballer who becomes a singer in the Garrison Pub. He becomes a bookmaker for the Peaky Blinders.
When the bomb goes off, Michael is irked to discover that his job wasn't completed after all, and someone like Tommy doesn't die quite that easily. After one final speech-off, Tommy shoots him in the eye, ending Polly's prophecy that there'll be a war, and one of them will die.
Polly brings Ada and her son to the next family meeting and Ada tells Thomas that she forgives him, as long as he does what Polly promised.
John blows up the residence of Field Marshal Henry Russell in order to relocate the assassination that Thomas must carry out. Arthur gets released from jail thanks to John's efforts.
He had tuberculoma in his brain stem, a growth caused by the same bacteria as the lung disease, doubtless picked up from daughter Ruby (Orla McDonagh). It wasn't infectious but it was inoperable. The symptoms (seizures, dissociation, hallucinations, sharp cheekbones – I may have added the last one) chimed with Tommy's.
Alfie revealed that he was suffering from skin cancer, which he attributed to the poisonous gas used in the Great War; Alfie had intended for Tommy to discover his betrayal, track him down, and kill him so Alfie could die on his own terms, rather than the Mafia.
Series 5. Alfie is revealed to be alive, living in Margate. His face is visibly scarred from Tommy's shooting, leaving him blind in his left eye. Alfie is acutely aware of the rise of fascist politician Sir Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), as well as Tommy's career in politics.
However, by the end of the show, Arthur overcomes these struggles and appears more capable of finally killing McCavern. Peaky Blinders establishes that the Billy Boys are more involved in Arthur's fight than Tommy's.
Within the premiere episode's first five minutes, Tommy gets a phone call from Laura McKee (Charlene McKenna) informing him that it was the Irish Republican Army that ruined his plans and killed two of his people — Barney Thompson (Cosmo Jarvis) and Aberama Gold (Aidan Gillen).
"Episode 2.2" is the second episode of second series of Peaky Blinders and the eighth episode overall. It aired on October 9, 2014.
