Device storage is the available storage on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or other Apple device. iCloud storage keeps your photos, files, notes, and more, up-to-date and available across all your devices.
The biggest culprits are likely to be Photos, so start with that, and make sure the 'Optimize iPhone Storage' option is enabled. Because you cannot add storage to your phone. It will always have the amount it came with. You have bought space in Apple's synching service, iCloud.
iCloud is the service from Apple that securely stores your photos, files, notes, passwords and other data in the cloud and keeps it up to date across all your devices automatically. iCloud also makes it easy to share photos, files, notes and more with friends and family.
You will no longer be able to download apps or save new photos, videos, or other files. Your iCloud Photo Library will struggle to sync with your iPhone. You may notice a drop in your iPhone's performance. You will get quite a few error messages and warnings.
If you use iCloud Photos, and delete photos and videos from one device, the photos and videos will be deleted on your other devices. If you add photos to your iPhone or iPad by connecting your device to your computer, you can't delete them directly from your device in the Photos app.
You can delete photos from your iPhone but keep them in iCloud by turning off iCloud photo sharing. You can also use a different iCloud account to keep the previous account's iCloud photos safe. Another solution is to use a different cloud server, like Dropbox or OneDrive, to back up the photos.
Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > tap Show All > Turn on the toggle for the specific data. For example, if you want to move photos to iCloud, you should tap Photos and turn on Sync This iPhone. Tips: To save iPhone storage, you can choose Optimize iPhone Storage.
You can't expand the memory of your iPhone with a memory card. Still, there are a number of ways to provide space for all your music, photos, and videos. With iCloud, you can access your files and save backups both at home and on the go.
You cannot clear storage by moving apps data to iCloud. It only keeps backup. See how much storage you have left on your device and in iCloud, and which apps use the most space.
Turn off iCloud Photos in iCloud and all of your devices
Photos and videos stored in iCloud will be deleted 30 days after you stop using the service.
Photos stored in iClouds photo stream are only stored for up to 30 days and up to 1000 photos (whichever you reach first). You should save any photos you want to keep to your photo roll or iPhoto within the 30 days allocated.
After you turn off iCloud Photo Library on the phone, they would then be included in future backups. If you don't want that, you can turn that off via Settings > [username] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups > [device name] > Photos.
There are two options for you to choose from if you want to turn off iCloud photos without losing pictures: Choose to remove iCloud photos from device and you can go to iCloud.com to check your photos. Choose to download iCloud Photos so that you can check them on your device offline.
Remove videos, books, and music stored on your phone
Sometimes what's taking up the most amount of storage are the data and documents stored within an app on your phone. You can find out if that's the case by once again heading to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and then clicking on an app.
One of the biggest culprits for Other/System Data growing out of hand is streaming lots of music and video. When you download video or music from the iTunes Store, TV app, or Music app, it's indexed as Media. But streams have caches used to ensure smooth playback, and those are categorized as Other/System Data.
Check the Recently Deleted Folder
A common reason for this issue revolves around the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app. This album allows you to recover deleted photos and videos for up to 30 days after deleting them.
Photos, videos, messages, and app data.
When you confirm that you want to Turn Off & Delete an app, it turns off iCloud Backup for that app and removes all of its information from iCloud. Some apps are always backed up and you can't turn them off.
You have two choices: You can upgrade your iCloud subscription to get more space, or delete unneeded items from iCloud. You can save a lot of space by deleting your largest apps from iCloud.
128GB and 256GB are the best options for most users.
They offer enough storage space for thousands of photos and videos, along with dozens of apps. At this point, it's a mistake to buy anything with only 64GB. Apps and photos are big enough now that you're going to be running out of space quickly.
