You can concatenate rows into single string using COALESCE method. This COALESCE method can be used in SQL Server version 2008 and higher. All you have to do is, declare a varchar variable and inside the coalesce, concat the variable with comma and the column, then assign the COALESCE to the variable.
To concatenate multiple rows into a single string using COALESCE method first we need to declare a variable of varchar type to store combined strings inside the coalesce, use a comma separator to differentiate each row string value in concated string then assign the COALESCE to the variable.
The Union Operator
A UNION operator is the third way to insert multiple rows in SQL. It is used to merge the results of multiple SELECT statements. It involves INSERT INTO... SELECT FROM statement to insert a different set of values rather than copying from some source table.
Tip: Select the same number of rows as you want to insert. For example, to insert five blank rows, select five rows. It's okay if the rows contain data, because it will insert the rows above these rows. Hold down CONTROL, click the selected rows, and then on the pop-up menu, click Insert.
To merge rows in MySQL, use GROUP_CONCAT().
INSERT-SELECT-UNION query to insert multiple records
Thus, we can use INSERT-SELECT-UNION query to insert data into multiple rows of the table. The SQL UNION query helps to select all the data that has been enclosed by the SELECT query through the INSERT statement.
Click the first cell and press Shift while you click the last cell in the range you want to merge. Important: Make sure only one of the cells in the range has data. Click Home > Merge & Center. If Merge & Center is dimmed, make sure you're not editing a cell or the cells you want to merge aren't inside a table.
The SQL GROUP BY Statement
The GROUP BY statement groups rows that have the same values into summary rows, like "find the number of customers in each country". The GROUP BY statement is often used with aggregate functions ( COUNT() , MAX() , MIN() , SUM() , AVG() ) to group the result-set by one or more columns.
In this case, we use GROUP_CONCAT function to concatenate multiple rows into one column. GROUP_CONCAT concatenates all non-null values in a group and returns them as a single string. If you want to avoid duplicates, you can also add DISTINCT in your query.
When inserting a single row into the MySQL table, the syntax is as follows: INSERT INTO table_name(column_1,column_2,column_3) VALUES (value_1,value_2,value_3); In the INSERT INTO query, you should specify the following information: table_name : A MySQL table to which you want to add a new row.
An aggregate function that returns a single string representing the argument value concatenated together for each row of the result set. If the optional separator string is specified, the separator is added between each pair of concatenated values.
Shift+Spacebar to select the row. Alt+I+R to add a new row above.
Excel Insert Row Shortcut
Use Shift+Space. This will select the entire rows. That's it. Excel will add multiple rows of blank data in the selected location.
Hold the “Ctrl + Shift” key together and press the “left arrow.” Close the bracket and press the “Enter” key to get the total. Similarly, we can add multiple rows together.
The INSERT statement also allows you to insert multiple rows into a table using a single statement as the following: INSERT INTO table_name(column1,column2…) VALUES (value1,value2,…), (value1,value2,…), … In this form, you need to provide multiple lists of values, each list is separated by a comma.
Select Home > Group by. In the Group by dialog box, select Advanced to select more than one column to group by. Add a column to aggregate by selecting Add aggregation at the bottom of the dialog box.
Select the data (including any summary rows or columns). On the Data tab, in the Outline group, click Group > Group Rows or Group Columns. Optionally, if you want to outline an inner, nested group — select the rows or columns within the outlined data range, and repeat step 3.
The GROUPING SETS option gives you the ability to combine multiple GROUP BY clauses into one GROUP BY clause. The results are the equivalent of UNION ALL of the specified groups. For example, GROUP BY ROLLUP (Country, Region) and GROUP BY GROUPING SETS ( ROLLUP (Country, Region) ) return the same results.
To add multiple columns SQL, specify multiple columns to add after the ADD keyword and separate each column that you want to add using a comma.
