The post-deployment stage begins with the arrival to home station. Like the pre-deployment stage, the timeframe for this stage is also variable depending on the particular Family. Typically, this stage lasts from three to six months. This stage starts with the "homecoming" of the deployed Soldier.
Regardless of the type of deployment, returning home is a cause for celebration. Patience and understanding of your soldier's needs are most important. If your soldier was in a combat zone, they need time to decompress and reintegrate. They'll return to their home Army base where they can take the time they need.
Post-deployment phase
Servicemembers return to their home installation, and prepare to "reintegrate" into normal life, with individual branches of service offering additional briefings, training, medical evaluations, and counseling to assist.

Deployments are Difficult
Just because the deployment of a service member is “normal” for military families doesn't make it any easier. For military spouses, deployments mean 6-18 months away from their husband or wife, who can sometimes be in an unknown or unsafe location.
As part of the military pay and benefits package, military service members earn 30 days of paid leave per year. You start at zero and for every month of military service, 2.5 days of leave get added to your leave account.
The military doesn't stop service members from using video chat. In fact, they encourage deployed soldiers to stay in contact with family and friends. Parents, extended family, and friends cannot live on base but are welcome to visit. While visiting family members and friends cannot stay overnight in the barracks, there are on-base accommodations for them, if you choose, and your service member can stay the night with you.

Ours is a unique and diverse workplace, but in some respects working for the Army can be much like being employed anywhere else. On most days you will start in the morning, work a standard day, then head home at night; but that's where the similarity with many civilian jobs ends.
