While the Jedi High Council believed that Anakin was only escorting the Queen back to her home, the two were actually getting married at Varykino, a lake retreat on Naboo. Given that the events of
Padmé was born in the year 46 BBY on Naboo, and Anakin was born five years later, in the year 41 BBY. That makes Padmé five years older than Anakin.
However, Anakin was 19 years old when they developed a romantic relationship in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (22 BBY).
Senator Padmé Amidala of the planet Naboo became pregnant during the Clone Wars with her husband, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, as the father. She gave birth to twins, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.
In the old Star Wars canon, it was said to be a six-day period, despite former Lucasfilm creative executive Pablo Hidalgo stating on Twitter that it's closer to ten days. No matter the exact timeframe, it still means that Padme revealed Anakin's children to him only days before giving birth.
Darth Vader didn't learn he had a daughter until Return of the Jedi, when he stood before Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor's power probed Luke's mind, attempting to goad him to fall to the dark side, and he discovered Leia's existence.
In The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon Jinn meets tiny Anakin Skywalker and his mother, he goes on about how the Force is like, crazy strong with Anakin or whatever, and then asks his mother about Anakin's dad. Shmi Skywalker is pretty clear in her answer: There isn't a father. She was impregnated by the Force.
Overview. After her death in childbirth on Polis Massa, Amidala's body was returned to Naboo for the proper funeral rites. In order to hide the fact that Amidala's twins survived, her body was prepared to still appear pregnant.
For example, a case could be made that no one discussed the pregnancy because Padmé hid the pregnancy with the assistance of her loyal handmaidens. It could also be argued that the father of her child was an open secret, and rather than assuming the father was Rush Clovis, everyone assumed it was Anakin Skywalker.
As Padmé grows more and more visibly pregnant, why did no one wonder who the father was? Rush Clovis is really the only possible answer. The timeline matches up pretty well, and their prior relationship was common knowledge.
Despite his love for his wife, Padmé's life and their children was one of the main reasons why Anakin had become the ruthless Sith Lord Darth Vader in the first place, after her husband became Vader, Padmé was heartbroken, but still tried to reason with Anakin to stop his crusade.
If it weren't already apparent based on the real life age gap between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, with Ford being 14 years older than Fisher, Han and Leia are, in fact, separated by ten years within the newly confirmed canon. Officially, Han was born in 29 BBY, while Leia was born in 19 BBY.
Fun facts also worth mentioning: Han Solo happens to be 10 years older than twins Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.
Anakin Skywalker lived an adventurous life in his early years and then became more menacing in his middle age, ultimately dying in his mid-40s.
The age difference between Anakin and Padmé was ultimately immaterial, given that Padmé's death at the end of the Star Wars prequels brings an end to her story at just 27 years old. She spent her final moments giving birth to Luke and Leia before losing the will to live.
The short answer is that creator George Lucas had no idea Leia would end up becoming Darth Vader's daughter. But Star Wars books and comics have tried to address the decades-old plot hole.
What happens when a Jedi has a child? After their sensitivity to the Force was confirmed, the infants or young children were brought to the Jedi crèche of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where they were to live until they were chosen to become a Padawan.
Palpatine manipulated the Midi-chlorians inside of Shmi's womb to create Anakin.
The reason Leia likely remembers Padmé is that she could sense her mother's emotions at the time of the senator's passing. Luke didn't possess the same ability as his sister and inherited their father's Force potential. This links with Luke's desire to follow Anakin's Jedi path.
The Little Girl
Long story short, she is Padmé's niece, Pooja Naberrie, and was portrayed by Hayley Mooy.
What he did not see, at the time at least, was that Padmé used her last breaths to tell Obi-Wan that she was certain that in regards to her husband, "there's still good in him." Now, those words are set to be revealed to someone other than Darth Vader himself.
In the canon comic Darth Vader No. 25, it is revealed that Palpatine somehow used the Force to manipulate midichlorions to impregnate Shmi Skywalker.
In a new excerpt, it's revealed that the names of Rey's parents are Dathan and Miramir. Dathan is the dad and Miramir the mother, if you were wondering; it's not always clear with these names from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
The highest known midi-chlorian count—over 20,000 per cell—belonged to the Jedi Anakin Skywalker, who was believed to have been conceived by the midi-chlorians.
