Violence is extremely strong and over the top, with lots of blood: spurts, sprays, and gurgles. Expect to see guns and shooting, characters dying, repeated stabbings, fighting, kicking, and punching, etc.
It is not necessary to watch all of the Scream movies, but it is necessary to watch Scream 5 (2022). This newest entry focuses heavily on the characters introduced in Scream 5, which is why we recommend at the very least watching that one.
"Scream VI" is officially rated R for strong bloody violence and language throughout, and brief drug use.
What ages can watch this one? If they are horror fans and have been exposed to other horror movies like Halloween, Smile, etc, then we think they can handle Scream 6 as young as 15 and up. There are not any overt nudity or sex scenes which may make this one ok for teens younger than 17.
But don't be lulled by the star power and satire: The violence here is brutal, intense, and gory. Though the thrilling pace, high school drama, and steady jolts will likely keep young audiences watching, this movie is best for older teens and adults.
As such, the horror sequel lingers on each victim's wounds and their gushing blood, which squirts out more often than not. Considering the excessive stabbing, slicing, and gun injuries (at least three people are shot), it's safe to say Scream 5 is a pretty violent and grisly film.
And yes, the famous killer Ghostface (who is often played by a different actor each time) will return to cause havoc on Sydney and her friends, as well as the newcomers to this film. “Scream” will be bloody and horrific. It's a rated-R film that you shouldn't bring your children to.
If your teens and tweens have seen any of the previous Scream movies (1-4!), they will likely be ok with Scream 5. Ages 14 and up should be able to handle the scares and blood that this movie provides as long as they have been exposed to similar movies in the past.
The age rating for "Squid Game" on Netflix is TV-MA, which means for mature audiences only.
Restricted: R - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.
Courteney Cox is set to reprise her role in 2022's Scream 5. The latest installment to the Scream series, Scream 5, is scheduled to premiere on January 14, 2022. According to the film's producer, Chad Villella, Scream 5 will be rated R.
An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the board, contains some adult material. The film may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously.
Expect tons of stabbings and slayings, bloody wounds, blood spurts, dead bodies, etc. A man tries to take advantage of a drunk girl at a college party (her friends rescue her), characters are shot and fall from high places, heads are bashed, and more.
Scream is rated R for violence, language, and sexual references.
If your child is already anxious or easily scared, their temperament points toward waiting until they're older. Based on reviews by critics, parents, and even tweens and teens themselves, the consensus with the Scream franchise seems to be that your kid should be older than preteen to watch.
Sexual Content: There are several crude sexual references. Teenagers are shown making out. Profanity: There are 101 uses of sexual expletives, 23 scatological curses, and frequent use of mild curses and terms of deity. Alcohol / Drug Use: Adult and teen characters are shown drinking alcohol.
Parents need to know that the level of violence is very intense in Squid Game. Characters are systematically tortured and killed for the sadistic pleasure of a game master. Adults have sex, and there are threats of sexual violence: Women are grabbed by the hair and beaten.
First, it's worth noting that the maker of Stranger Things, Netflix, has rated it TV-14. That means they don't think it's appropriate for anyone under 14 to watch it. Of course, not all 14-year-olds are the same. At 14 years old, I watched things much more gruesome (I became a wimp later in life).
Squid Game is absolutely not for children.
With a TV-MA rating and Common Sense Media recommending it for viewers 16 and older, the Korean-language drama is tense, bloody, disturbing, and ultra-violent.
Nearly 90 f-words and nearly another 20 s-words. We also hear “a–,” “b–ch,” “d–n,” “h—” and “pr–k.” God's name is abused about 10 times, half of those with the word “d–n.” Jesus' name is abused eight times. Obscene gestures are made.
Nearly 80 F-words and other strong language. 12 uses of a-s 5 uses of b-tch 8 uses of d-mn. One use of d-ck.
The upcoming 2022 release earned its R-rating for "strong bloody violence, language throughout, and some sexual references," which uh, sure sounds like what to expect from a slasher movie.
R: Restricted, Children Under 17 Require Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian. This rating means the film contains adult material such as adult activity, harsh language, intense graphic violence, drug abuse and nudity.
There's tons of blood and gore (stabbings, visible intestines, and more) and lots of strong language (including multiple uses of "f--k" and "s--t"), and one sequence shows heavy teen drinking. There's also some flirting and almost kissing, but sex isn't a big issue.
The violence is very gory and graphic. The show had a TV-14 rating on the MTV channel, but now has a TV-MA rating on Netflix because of how gory it is. If you look away on some of the gory parts, I'd say 14+, but if you look away on a lot of the gory parts, I'd say 13+.
