The Concept Of 33 Koti Devata
They are: 8-Vasu, 11-Rudra, and 12-Aaditya, 1-Indra and 1-Prajaapati. 11. Rudras ~ The ten Pranas (Praana, Apaana, Vyaana, Samaana, Udaana, Naag, Kurma, Krikal, Devadutta and Dhananjaya) i.e. nervauric forces which live in the human body. The eleventh is the human soul.
Since my childhood we were taught by our parents that there are 33 Koti (crore or 10 million) Gods in Hinduism. 33 koti gods = 8 Vasus + 11 Rudras + 12 Adityas + Indra and Prajapati ( 8+ 11 + 12 + 2 = 33). If we consider koti means prakar {kind} 33 crores is the complete population of devatas.
According to Vedas there are 33 Gods/Devas. These Gods are separated in the following pattern : 12 + 11 + 8 + 2. 12 is the number of Adityas, 11 are the number of Rudras, 8 is the number of Vasus, 1 is Prajapati, the Master of Gods, and 1 is the Supreme Ruler who is very powerful.
Dec 19, 2021. @V_Shuddhi. The term 'koti' in Sanskrit has two meaning, one is 'supreme' and the other is Crore. The term 'trayastrimsati koti' does not mean the number 'thirty-three crore'. Here koti means 'supreme', pre-eminent, excellent, that is, the 33 'supreme' divinities.

In the beginning, Brahma sprang from the cosmic golden egg and he then created good and evil and light and dark from his own person. He also created the four types: gods, demons, ancestors and men, the first of whom was Manu. Brahma then made all the other living creatures upon the earth.

Brahma is the first god in the Hindu triumvirate, or trimurti. The triumvirate consists of three gods who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. The other two gods are Vishnu and Shiva. Vishnu is the preserver of the universe, while Shiva's role is to destroy it in order to re-create.

So, somewhere in translation, we missed the basic fact that Hinduism has 33 Supreme Gods and not 33 Crore Gods. (The word koti has the same meaning as “Uchcha koti.”) In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, chapter 3, Yajñavalkya has said that in reality there are only 33 Gods and Goddesses.
