No doubt Petunia would have been saddened by the news of Lily's death but those complicated emotions – grief, regret and unresolved jealousy – were probably buried in the distractions of housework, gossip and pandering to her son Dudley's every whim.
Petunia was incredibly jealous of Lily's magical ability and hated that her magical sister always seemed to be the centre of attention. When she married Vernon, she didn't want Lily to be a bridesmaid because she was tired of being overshadowed by her.
We know she did, she told the truth when Hagrid went for Harry.
"[Petunia] and Vernon chose not to attend Lily and James' wedding. The very last piece of correspondence she received from Lily and James was the announcement of Harry's birth, and after one contemptuous look, Petunia threw it in the bin."
Petunia never showed any love and affection at all towards Harry because he reminded her of Lily and the wizarding world. She treated him as a waste of space, giving him the cupboard under the stairs at first and making him do all the chores. She, along with Vernon, ignored most of Harry's birthdays.
And the Dursleys didn't attend the Potters' marriage ceremony. "[Petunia] and Vernon chose not to attend Lily and James' wedding. The very last piece of correspondence she received from Lily and James was the announcement of Harry's birth, and after one contemptuous look, Petunia threw it in the bin."
At some point before 2020, Petunia passed away for unknown reasons. It was revealed that she kept the blanket that Harry was brought to her in when he was a baby, which was given back to him after her death.
'Remember my last'
Petunia's disdain for Harry was most likely born from a long-standing jealousy of her magical sister, Lily. A Howler from Dumbledore, addressed to Petunia, said 'Remember my last' – no doubt referring to the letter which he left with baby Harry, on the doorstep of Privet Drive.
Today, both Tendler and Mulaney announced on their separate Instagram accounts that Petunia, who was in their 2014 wedding and would reportedly have turned 10 this June, has died. Tendler wrote the following: “Rest in peace my sweet Petunia.
Apparently Petunia arranged the funeral for Lily and James, choosing for them to be buried in Godrics Hollow. Petunia was the only member left of Liliy's and James' family so it was left for her to do.
Her last line there is, "You didn't just lose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow, you know. I lost a sister." Since Aunt Petunia usually prefers not to acknowledge Harry's mother at all, it's a surprisingly sweet moment. In the book, she uses her last words to say "Well — goodbye" to Harry.
The fan asked the author if Aunt Petunia was a Squib (a non-magical person who is born to at least one magical parent) and Rowling replied: "Good question. No, she is not, she is not a Squib. She is a Muggle.
Dear Petunia, It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of your sister and her husband. They were murdered by a Dark wizard known as Lord Voldemort, whose cruelty and violence they had been fighting for years. I tried my best to protect them, but, alas, I regret to say that I failed.
Petunia is likely one to two years older than Lily (but possibly as much as five years older) There's no specific birthdate given for Petunia but we can make inferences from the text and movie. We know Petunia to be the older sister which places her birthdate prior to 1960.
Petunia is one of the main characters of Happy Tree Friends. She is the love interest of Mime, Flippy, Lifty and Shifty. Handy is currently her future boyfriend, but he doesn't have hands at all. If it's possible, she meets currently Disco Bear, which is confirmed.
The first one is the fact their initial meeting and resulting relationship was very bad: He jumps out the bushes and calls her younger sister a witch before she recognizes him and judges his appearance. He calls her a muggle dismissively which she also takes as an insult.
6 The Dursleys Kept Harry's Baby Blanket
Dudley found it in Aunt Petunia's belongings after she passed away and sent it to Harry. This insinuates that Petunia held onto it for years, in spite of her resentment toward the Wizarding World and Harry, because it was another piece of Lily.
Of course Rowling later fleshes out Petunia's character, explaining to readers that Petunia desperately longed to go to Hogwarts, even penning a letter to Dumbledore asking for admission.
What do you imagine she wanted to say to him? I think she wanted to explain about how she didn't hate him all that much, just the fact that he was a wizard and she wasn't. Or that she maybe hoped he wouldn't die.
But Aunt Petunia receives a Howler – a special enchanted letter – that says only, "Remember my last, Petunia" (2.217). By the final chapters of Book 5, Harry discovers that this Howler was sent by Professor Dumbledore to remind Aunt Petunia of her oath to give Harry a place to live.
Yes. She wanted to be a witch. She also wrote a letter to Dumbledore and requested him to admit her in Hogwarts.
Harry lost his temper and unknowingly used an Inflating Charm on her. Aunt Marge then blew up like a balloon, floated to the ceiling, then outside to the open sky. The Ministry of Magic eventually sent the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad to retrieve and puncture her before wiping her memory of the event.
No. Because it had already been explained to the Dursley's why they had to leave Privot Drive and split off from Harry.
It has been previously theorised that the Dursleys hated Harry because he was one of Voldemort's Horcruxes – thus the magic around him warped their minds.
