A pack of wolves usually comprises a dominant (alpha) pair; an individual or a couple following in importance, and most likely to replace the current alphas (referred to as the beta pair); next in line, are individuals in the middle ranks, these are followed by one or more wolves of the lowest (omega) rank.
Alphas are the Highest ranked Wolves, no matter what anyone says. The Alpha commands the pack, and the lowest rank doesn't eat last.
The Zeta Werewolves, as described in Kate Argent's Hunting Diary, are "Intelligent Beta Werewolves" that are an Alpha's "left hand" and specialize in both Strategy and Pack Coordination.
Delta: The Delta Werewolf is a Werewolf in training for Beta position. They are third in rank to Alpha and Beta. Delta's do not hold the authority to call medium or large hunts. That is a privilege to only ranked Alphas, Betas, Lead Hunter and hunters.
Hunters/Lambda - Like the warriors the amount of hunters depend on the size of the pack. Every member of the pack hunts, but these are the main hunters. They follow the Alpha, Beta or Kappa in the hunts. Those who hold this position are loyal and quick to follow orders.
The Sigma Werewolf Was Created By Lycaon By Intentionally Changing His Genetics To Have His New Children Be A New, Stronger, Breed Of Werewolf. Known Individuals: Paul Chiles(Previously Inactive)
Gamma wolves are the wolves under the betas, they act like leaders during fights and are strong and fast when in battle. Gamma wolves have grey eyes and they have longer claws then other werewolves.
The Pure, also known as purebreds or wolves, are any werewolves that transform into wolves. These werewolves are purebreds and originate from bloodlines that can be traced back to those who crossed the veil from Purgatory. They are seen as the strongest and the rarest of werewolves.
Healers: Healers are in charge or healing and caring for the physical state of all Infernale wolves. Healers pick their apprentice as a pup and train them in the ways of a healer. Healers are not that high on the chain of command but are still trusted advisers of the Alphas and respected by the pack.
Omega. The omega is the most subordinate member of the pack, this wolf typically was the runt of the litter, and has grown up to be weaker and smaller than the rest. Wolves occupying this lowly position are not shamed or striving to rise up the ranks, they simply rank lowest, typically due to size and strength.
But it turns out that this is a myth, and in recent years wildlife biologists have largely dropped the term “alpha.” In the wild, researchers have found that most wolf packs are simply families, led by a breeding pair, and bloody duels for supremacy are rare.
The theory goes that gray wolf packs consist of a variety of unrelated individual wolves all competing for dominance, with the leaders being the “alpha” male and female, while lesser wolves are relegated to “beta” positions, with the bottom of the bottom being the “omega” wolves.
Talia is arguably the most powerful Alpha of the Hale family pack. She is the mother of Laura, Derek, and Cora, and has the rare ability to turn into a full wolf. This is a gift she passed on to her son, Derek.
Wolf packs have a specific order which is respected among all of those in the pack. There is a pair of leaders who are the head of the pack, one male and one female. They are the Alphas. They typically are the only pair who produce offspring, unless the pack has grown and brought in wolves from other packs.
Zeta (1-3) - The war general of the pack. They take direct orders from the Alpha in case of a war. The Alpha may be the one to declare war, but the Zeta leads the army and plan the plans for war. They also train new recruits for position as a Eta and Eta or more to take his or her place in future.
In most wolf packs, there will be an alpha male and female and frequently an omega male and female. In wolf hierarchy, the males tend to dominate other males and the females dominate other females so that there is generally a low ranking member of each sex.
Although not as powerful as an Alpha, Beta werewolves are noticeably stronger than Omega Werewolves. Beta werewolves are normal humans who are turned by an alpha or born to a werewolf. Betas follow their alpha's orders and are the main members of the pack. Betas are the most common werewolf type.
In terms of dominance level, the sigma male should appear second, below alpha. However, Beale and other members of the masculinist subculture agree that sigmas' rightful place is outside of the hierarchy, because of their unique attributes resembling a balance of positive alpha and beta male traits.
Wolves are, at their core, irrefutably social animals. Much like the myth of the dominant alpha, the human conception of the lone wolf is also somewhat false. It's not that solitary wolves do not exist; rather, it's that they do not prefer to be alone, as our definition suggests.
A zeta male is used for men who have rejected the traditional expectations associated with being a man- a provider, defender, and protector. He rejects stereotypes and doesn't conform to traditional beliefs. He marches to the beat of his own drum and refuses to be seduced and shamed by anyone.
These “lone wolves” are actually called “Dispersers.” They play an important role for wolves as a whole: they're the ones who keep wolves healthy by bringing new genes into the mix with different family groups. They also bring the wolf population into new areas.
Dominance and Influence of The Rank: Zeta only holds dominance over the other Warriors in the pack, they have no authority over any pack member that is not a Warrior and are required to listen to the Alpha and Beta wolves of the pack.
A dominant higher-ranking individual is sometimes called an alpha, and a submissive lower-ranking individual a beta.
