Perhaps most important of all, happy people don't stay in negative situations or tolerate negative people in their lives. Happy people find a way to leave situations, careers and relationships that cause excessive amounts of stress. They avoid spending time with people who dwell on the negative.
5. Chronic inactivity, lack of exercise, and poor nutrition. Physical activity and nutrition are both fundamentally linked to happiness. In fact, one study in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine found that “People who were inactive ... were more than twice as likely to be unhappy as those who remained active.”
Nope. The secret to happiness is caring about the right things and getting your priorities straight. Most of the things that people believe will bring them joy, happiness, freedom from stress/pressure, etc., do exactly the opposite.
Apathy is when you lack motivation to do anything or just don't care about what's going on around you. Apathy can be a symptom of mental health problems, Parkinson's disease, or Alzheimer's disease. It often lasts a long time. You may lack the desire to do anything that involves thinking or your emotions.
What Causes People to Stop Caring? Feeling as if you don't care about anything anymore may be related to anhedonia or apathy. Anhedonia is a mental state in which people have an inability to feel pleasure. It is often a symptom of mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, and substance use.
You're never going to be happy if you're viewing yourself in a negative way, especially if you're comparing yourself to other people. "Constant comparisons to other [people] — and the seemingly happy lives they live — is one of the most noxious sources of unhappiness for people.
You feel depressed, anxious, or chronically worried. You feel like you're not appreciated enough. You find yourself judging others. You frequently numb yourself with alcohol, drugs, sex, television, or excessive busyness.
Happy people are warm, considerate, respectful, helpful, and pleasant to be around. They do not indulge in envy, jealousy, or gossip, nor do they waste time complaining. Use positive rather than negative language. Happy people focus on what has, is, and can work, rather than on what is problematic.
Genuinely happy people don't stress or worry over what others think about them. Instead, they concentrate on what they think of themselves based on who they are and how they behave. This is primarily about being able to look yourself in the mirror and feel good about the person you see.
