It is never mentioned whether Demogorgon, portrayed as a dark, shapeless spirit, is female or male. The theory of Demogorgon's name originating from Greek demos and gorgos may be the foundation for its use in this text as an allusion to a politically active and revolutionary populace.
Etymology. Demogorgons have not been given an official name or scientific title. However, Eleven and her friends used the nickname "Demogorgon" in reference to the original monster from 1983, after a monster featured in Dungeons & Dragons.
The main difference between a Demodog and a Demogorgon is simply that the Demodog is younger and not fully grown. Though Demodogs are perfectly capable of tackling a full-grown human, the creatures are susceptible to injury; while a full-grown Demogorgon is barely fazed by gunfire.
However, it was unable to resist Eleven's power of biokinesis, which she uses to dissolve and kill the Demogorgon. Telekinesis: The Demogorgon appeared to have had some form of telekinetic power.
Demogorgon was one of the first two demon lords, making his debut alongside Orcus in 1976. Both appeared in Eldritch Wizardry, the third supplement to the original D&D box set, and Demogorgon was a spectacular foe from the start.
Barb was the best friend of Nancy Wheeler. In late 1983, Barb mysteriously vanishes, which leads Nancy and Jonathan Byers to investigate her disappearance. Eventually, it was revealed that she had been killed by the Demogorgon.
They are a predatory species from a dimension known as "the Upside Down", which are controlled by Vecna and serve as his army. Among the species, there are three significant members; the Hawkins Demogorgon, D'Artagnan and the Russian Demogorgon.
The Demogorgon doesn't appear to have any eyes or any external sensory organs that can be physically seen, yet it appears to have a keen sense of its surroundings anyway.
After defeating the Demogorgon, Eleven wakes up in the Upside Down. She escapes through a portal which leads her back to Hawkins Middle School. With the government still searching for her, she is forced to hide in the forest. Eleven eventually finds the Eggos Hopper has left for her and seeks him out.
Also, scientists at Hawkins and Dad-Steve battle back the Demogorgon with the only thing it fears: fire.
Eleven holds the power to defeat the monster using her telekinesis powers, but she is also part of the reason it landed in Hawkins in the first place. There are multiple Demogorgons, and they can be trained to become stronger and even more murderous, which viewers see the Russians doing in season 4.
In episode 7, Vecna is revealed to be Henry Creel (played as a youngster by Raphael Luce), the son of Victor Creel (Robert Englund) and his wife Virginia (Tyner Rushing) shown in the 1950s flashbacks.
Recognizing Dustin, Dart did not attack and was easily distracted by Dustin giving it another Three Musketeers bar. After eating the bar, Dart silently nodded at Dustin and refused to attack, disobeying the Mind Flayer's will.
Is the Demogorgon real? While the monster that we all love to hate is not actually real, the Demogorgon has existed before in the real world. On the show, the monster is named after the Dungeons & Dragons character which is known as the Prince of Demons.
The slug Will coughed up is a baby Demogorgon. Though the actors were a little hesitant to confirm this on the after-show, it seems pretty apparent that the slug Will coughed up at the end of “Stranger Things” Season 1 was Demogorgon spawn, or at least a baby Demodog.
Regardless of what paint brand you use, the overall colour palette for the Demogorgon is olive green, warm brown and light sourced fire colours.
Next up, the viewers go on to theorise that One/Vecna is actually Eleven's dad. Yep, told you it was wild. The theory claims that Brenner wanted to create a child with stronger powers, so he waited until One was old enough to become a father.
Millie Bobby Brown spoke about this in an interview with Variety in 2022. When the actress was asked if the Duffer Brothers explained that Eleven creates the Upside Down when she interacts with 001, she said, "They did tell me. She does. She opens the rift."
Provided he actually ages in the Upside Down, Vecna could be in his late 30s in 1986, the year that Stranger Things season 4, volume 1 takes place. Vecna became a monster seven years prior, when Eleven defeated the adult Henry Creel, a.k.a. Number One, at Hawkins Lab and he became banished to the Upside Down.
The Demogorgon Is Extremely Different In D&D
This means the D&D Demogorgon can speak, unlike the one on Netflix. He also has snake and bear-like features, a dangerous tail, two heads with wildly different personalities, and a literal cult following. And, he has a feuds with other demons.
Joyce and Chief Hopper found an unconscious Will Byers strung up in the Upside Down version of the public library; he had a tendril in his mouth, extending through his trachea, and into his lungs. Hopper pulled it out of his throat before shooting and destroying it.
Eleven makes psychic contact with the Demogorgon, and in her terror, she accidentally rips open a hole in the fabric of reality. A gate forms in the depths of Hawkins Lab that connects our world to the Upside Down, which allows the Demogorgon to travel through.
The Soviets, having opened a stable gate to the Upside Down with experimental technology on June 28, 1985, apparently used the gate to extract various 'Demogorgon' specimens; somehow, the Soviets also captured a mass of silver-black particles (a portion of the Mind Flayer).
At stage four, the Demogorgon is about the size of a house cat and carnivorous like one, too. Though it will most likely eat birds and mice if it comes across them, any living thing is up for grabs. This is a predator, people, not a pet.
