Hire a professional appraiser to grade your coins and tell you how much it is worth. The American Society of Appraisers and International Society of Appraisers have searchable directories of professional appraisers. A dealer might also be able to help.
Anyone who has handled United States coinage has seen a mint mark. The small capital letter on the obverse (heads side) of a coin tells collectors, customers, and institutions where that coin was minted.
On the heads side of each Australian coin there is a picture of Queen Elizabeth II. It also has the words 'Elizabeth II', 'Australia' and the year in which the coin was made.

Old coins are a common item in many antique shops. Where to find coins? Places that are generally empty, overlooked, or not often frequented such as abandoned houses, attics, beneath bridges, and posthole banks are sometimes a good place to look.
Kennedy half-dollar coins are not very rare and most of them are worth only their face value of 50 cents. However, some are more valuable, depending on the year they were minted and their condition. For example, a Kennedy half-dollar coin minted in 1970 and in uncirculated condition is worth about $8.
For most uses best results will be when the light appears to come from the top of the coin. On some scanners this means placing the coin upside down on the scanner glass and using the image manipulation software to rotate the scan so the top of the coin is up.

Visit auction houses, antique stores, pawnshops, and coin collecting clubs to find rare coins for sale. This is the easiest way to locate a rare coin, but, of course, it won't always be affordable. Try searching once you have a small collection of your own and are interested in expanding your hobby.
Verdict & Recommendation. First, I will point out that I do recommend CoinSnap. It is a great tool for identifying coins and giving you a better-than-average accurate grading of that coin. I tried the app out on dozens of coins and found that it was accurate in both.
The mint mark is usually located just beneath the year. Please see below some of the examples. Kolkata/Calcutta mint was the first mint established in India in 1757. Since it was the first mint of India, there is no mint mark.

Start With Sorting Coins by Type
Separating gold coins from silver ones is an easy place to begin, followed by organizing each coin in the collection by series. For example, create one section of uncirculated or commemorative coins, another of Morgan Dollars, another of foreign coins, and so on.
