In the 1890s, expatriate American Cora Slocomb di Brazza Savorgnan, the Countess Di Brazzà, invented a universal peace flag with three upright bands: yellow, purple, and white, which became the peace flag of the International Peace Bureau.
In Italian, these rainbow “pace” flags are symbols of peace around the world. Each flag is 5' x 3'. Plus it has two brass eyelets for flying. This rainbow flag in Italy was first used in a peacemarch in 1961, inspired by similar multi-coloured flags used in demonstrations against nuclear weapons.

The Australian Defence Force ensign
The defence force emblem in the centre of the flag also represents the three services: the crossed swords represent the army, the anchor represents the navy and the eagle represents the air force. The Commonwealth Star and the boomerang represent Australia.
