INFPs are sometimes referred to as “the Mediator,” “the Idealist,” “the Healer,” or “the Dreamer.” ESTJ is the opposite personality type of INFP.
They may withdraw from the world and become isolated, or they may act out in destructive ways. Their idealism can turn into cynicism, and their values may become inflexible. When they're in this state, INFPs are often negative, judgmental, and superior.
Introverted Intuition vs Introverted Feeling
Although the INFJ and INFP share much in common, their cognitive functions are polar opposite. Looking at the pair's most dominant cognitive functions, there's a significant difference in how they think.
INFPs and ISTPs are both Introverted and Perceiving personalities, meaning they generally prefer being alone and exploring last-minute opportunities. INFPs tend to also be emotionally intuitive and creative, while ISTPs are rational and present-focused.
Both INFPs and ENTPs are intuitive and adaptable. However, INFPs are generally emotionally intuitive and reserved, while ENTPs are outgoing and rational. INFPs should be direct and logical when addressing ENTPs.
Who are INFPs least compatible with? INFPs are the least compatible with Thinking-Judging types—ISTJ, ESTJ, ENTJ, and less so, INTJ.
ENFP (Ne-Fi-Te-Si)
One of the most common types to mistype as the INFP is the ENFP. I don't imagine that is much of a surprise to you. After all, the ENFP has the exact same cognitive functions as the INFP, only in slightly different orders. They both even have the same overall preferences (Ne > Si and Fi >Te).
The most compatible personality types for INFPs are considered the INFJ, ESFJ, and ENFJ personality types. The joint function is the extroverted feeling (Fe) that allows INFPs to explore the more adventurous side of their personalities mutually.
If an INFP wants to find a compatible romantic partner, the best INFP matches would likely be ENFJs and ENTJs. Since these extroverted personalities also share the Intuitive preference with INFPs, it is likely that they will be able to relate to their INFP partner better than types with other preferences.
How rare is the INFP personality type? INFPs make up: 6.3% of the general population.
Who is more sensitive INFP or INFJ? Both the INFJ and INFP are sensitive, but INFJs are more sensitive to others' emotions, while INFPs are more sensitive to their own.
INFJs, while emotional (thanks to Fe which causes them to wear their emotions openly), lack the emotional depth seen in INFPs, and they don't spend as much time “experiencing” or “wallowing in” their emotions.
The Demon: Introverted Thinking
This is the shadow function that feels the most foreign to the INFP. As Mark Hunziker says, “Essentially, it's our inferior inferior.” When we see other people using this function (even in a positive way) we tend to see it as negative.
The pressure of having everyone looking at them waiting for a reaction can make them feel shy or awkward. Many INFPs also experience “second-hand embarrassment”. For example, they might feel embarrassed when someone is trying to make jokes but they are all falling flat.
So when INFPs are angry, they will typically retreat in order to look beneath the anger. Often a great deal of analysis goes on during these quiet moments.
INFPs ranked as having low dominance according to the CPI™ tool. These individuals are very independent in nature, and value autonomy and personal freedom. They dislike imposing their will on others and believe that everyone has a right to their own individual ethics and beliefs.
Not because we are always overly clingy but because we can distance ourselves and go off on our own for unacceptable periods of times. INFPs are socially aware of themselves but sometimes need to work on such habits before pursuing serious relationships.
Many INFPs enjoy using their creative side to express themselves in their outer worlds. Decorating their homes, landscaping, curating a private art collection, and anything else that makes their environment unique to them is a favorite hobby of several INFPs.
Pisces: INFP, ENFP
Still, as free-flowing personalities, Pisces can sometimes use their empathy to tune into other people's problems so they don't have to tackle their own.
With that in mind, the three most feminine would be ESFJ, ISFJ, and ENFJ in that order. The most masculine would be ENTJ, ISTP, and ESTP in that order.
Therefore, if an INFP likes you, they will not only listen to you closely, but also remember tiny details about your life. Things that maybe you don't even remember telling them about, such as what was the color of your first bicycle, or what was your favorite cartoon as a kid.
According to type theory, every personality type has four functions at its disposal. For the INFP, these include: Introverted Feeling (Fi), Extraverted Intuition (Ne), Introverted Sensing (Si) and Extraverted Thinking (Te).
The MBTI classifies the INFP personality type into two distinct categories, the assertive INFP (INFP-A) and the turbulent INFP (INFP-T). The INFP-As' most developed cognitive function is their dominant function for introverted feeling. INFP-A types are bolder and more self-assured.
Are Extroverted INFPs Truly ENFPs? Being an INFP is adventurous, and due to the ambivert side, INFPs indulge in a world of experiences. They become extroverts, and when they feel overwhelmed with interactions, they can retreat to solitude. Having extroverted traits does not mean INFPs are supposed to be ENFPs.
