Russian vodka banned from Australian liquor stores
Russian-made alcohol will be taken off shelves in liquor retailers across Australia in a show of solidarity for Ukraine. The Endeavour Group, the company which owns Dan Murphy's, BWS and Jimmy Brings, will remove all products with a Russian origin in the coming days.
Sainsbury's, Aldi, Asda and Waitrose have all announced they will axe Russian products amid the war in Ukraine. Sainsbury's will remove Russian Standard vodka and Karpayskiye black sunflower seeds from its shelves.
Main Russian vodka brands
Some of the main brands that could be hit by the boycott include Russian Standard and Russian Standard Gold, along with Siberian brand Husky Vodka and the traditional Polugar Classic Rye Vodka.
Justice banished Russian-produced brands Beluga Vodka, Hammer & Sickle Russian Vodka, Moskovskaya and Russian Standard from liquor store shelves. However, non-Russian-produced vodka brands using Russian brand names were exempted.
In addition to Russian Standard and Beluga Noble, Russian brands include Husky Vodka, Jewel of Russia, Moskovskaya, Polugar, Ustianochka, and Zyr Russian Vodka.
