In 1 Samuel 25, a beautiful story emerges, one of submission and deliverance. Abigail is a lesser-known heroine in the Bible, a humble woman who was married to a wealthy scoundrel. Abigail combined her wisdom with her wealth to appear before an approaching enemy to plead for the safety of her husband's household.
Her Strengths: Ruth showed herself to be loyal to Naomi and trusting of God. She was humble and kind, but also bold and strong in the way she provided for herself and Naomi and approached Boaz for marriage.
Jesus Christ, the most powerful man ever to walk on the face of the earth was also the most humble man who ever lived. His agenda was never to promote himself, but to please his Father by loving and serving others.
In our anchor scripture, Luke 1: 28, God sent His angel to reveal His verdict about the woman and it is: “Hail, thou art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: Blessed art thou among women.” The favoured woman in this context is Mary the mother of Jesus Christ.
"Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble" (v. 37).
John the Baptist
In this famous story, John says one of the most well known verses in the Bible: “he must increase, but I must decrease.” What a beautiful, humbling prayer! John is giving us a picture of what it means to be humble, and to seek Jesus before ourselves and our own gain.
For neveryone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Esther. The story of Esther is a beautiful example of selflessness! She is married to an angry king, and when her cousin Mordecai tells her that the king's advisor Haman wants to kill all of the Jews, she knows what she has to do as a Jew.
These prominent women include the Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah, Miriam the prophetess, Deborah the Judge, Huldah the prophetess, Abigail (who married David), Rahab, and Esther. A common phenomenon in the Bible is the pivotal role that women take in subverting man-made power structures.
A humble person does not flaunt their wealth, status, accomplishments, or anything else they may have. They are modest and often embarrassed by praise. Instead of being proud of themselves, a humble person will be happy for others who deserve the credit.
A humble person is not proud and does not believe that they are better than other people.
Finally, in His hours of greatest suffering, Jesus subjected Himself to the Father. And in perhaps His greatest act of humility, He allowed Himself to be hung upon the cross. His last words in mortality typify His teachings on humility.
Much of the Old Testament has to do with God working in the lives of men. Sarah, Rachel, Rebekah, Rahab, Ruth, Esther, and Deborah are some of the prominent women in the Old Testament, but this tribute was written in honor of, or in memory of, some beloved wife and mother who will always be unknown.
With bold humility, Ruth sets out for a landowner's fields to glean, to pick up what the harvesters have left behind. She does not complain. She is not proud, and she doesn't concern herself with what others might think. Ruth simply obeys God's law and accepts what God provides.

Lydia of Thyatira (Greek: Λυδία) is a woman mentioned in the New Testament who is regarded as the first documented convert to Christianity in Europe. Several Christian denominations have designated her a saint.
Priscilla was a woman of Jewish heritage and one of the earliest known Christian converts who lived in Rome. Her name is a Roman diminutive for Prisca which was her formal name. She is often thought to have been the first example of a female preacher or teacher in early church history.
At the cross, Jesus humbled himself so that you could receive eternal life and joy in him.
James 4:10. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
Jesus was GOD and yet, out of His great love for us, He chose to come to earth as a human. Jesus even chose to obey God the Father to the point of dying an embarrassing and painful death on the cross for our sins. Jesus is the perfect example of humility, and we are called to follow His example.
God develops humility in us through the gospel by presenting the humiliation of Christ to us. He also develops humility through the gospel by pointing out the greatness of our sins, revealing Himself and His holiness to us so that we can see the blackness of our sin in objective terms.

Deborah was a worshiping warrior. She found encouragement and strength in worship to be obedient to everything the Lord was asking her to do. If Deborah had played small in her life, she would not have had all the experiences that led to her being used by the Lord to deliver Israel from bondage.
During the time the New Testament was written, women were not treated close to equally. And yet, Jesus loved women, taught women, and sought out women to share the Good News. Luke 8:1–3 lists three women who followed Jesus along with the disciples: Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna.
