Brunhilde is the eldest of the 13 Valkyrie sisters. She stood up against the Gods in an attempt to save Humanity. She is the ongoing main protagonist of the series as she is the one who chose Humanity's finest and strongest warriors in Ragnarok to stand up against the strongest Gods and slay them.
At the Council of Valhalla, the gods vote unanimously for humankind's extinction. But Brünnhilde, eldest of the Valkyrie sisters, raises her objection.
Göll is the youngest of the 13 Valkyrie sisters and the deuteragonist of the series. During the Ragnarok matches, she is usually seen by Brunhilde's side, anxiously watching each match.
In the song Grímnismál (stanza 36) thirteen names are given of valkyries who serve ale in Valhalla: Hrist, Mist, Skeggjöld, Skögull, Hildr, Þrúðr, Hlökk, Herfjötur, Göll, Geirölul (Geirrömul, Geirahöd), Randgríðr, Radgríðr and Reginleifr.
The Valkyries are a group of thirteen demigoddesses that are charged with choosing the most worthy Human warriors and guiding their souls to Valhalla after their death. These warriors were to be used as an army for the Gods.
Superhuman Longevity: Like all Asgardians, Valkyrie is extremely long-lived, as she ages far slower than humans. Despite being over 5,000 years old; she still maintains the physical appearance of a woman in her prime.
Valkyries can become pregnant and carry the fetus to term, but they die in childbirth (Let Them Burn). Upon a Valkyrie's last death they disintegrate into particles of light. These particles of light coalesce into the shape of a Valkyrie with her wings and ascends into the sky.
The film does confirm her sexuality though, when Korg (Waititi) mentions that Valkyrie's girlfriend died in battle. There is also a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene in which Valkyrie kisses another woman's hand. However, that is really the full extent of Valkyrie's bisexual storyline.
Q: Is Freyja the commander of Valkyries? It seems likely that the goddess Freyja is their commander, or can even be counted, at times, as holding the job of Valkyrie. She is simply the main or most powerful chooser among the Valkyries. Valkyrie, after all, translates to 'chooser of the slain in battle'.
Sigrún is the Valkyrie Queen introduced in God of War (2018). She is one of the nine Valkyries who have been cursed into insanity by Odin.
Rota (Helheim)
Rota is probably the most deadly Valkyrie other than Sigrun and has plenty of unblockable attacks. The worst is her head-stomp move where she will spring up into the air and then come down directly on top of Kratos.

While technically Thor is King of his people, it's Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie who takes on the leadership role after Thor retreats into a drunken haze. Why is Valkyrie named “King” rather than “Queen?” Because gender-coding renders “King” a more powerful word than “Queen.”

As we've noted above, the Migration Period goddess who later became Freya was the wife of the god who later became Odin. While somewhat veiled, this is ultimately still the case in Old Norse literature. Freya's husband is named Óðr, a name which is virtually identical to that of Óðinn (the Old Norse form of “Odin”).

Keres and Valkyries
Both deities are war spirits that fly over battlefields during conflicts and choose those to be slain. The difference is that Valkyries are benevolent deities in contrast to the malevolence of the Keres, perhaps due to the different outlook of the two cultures towards war.
If a male human steals a Valkyrie's swan feathers, legend has it that the Valkyrie will fall in love with and marry him. Valkyries are also associated with horses as they are sometimes depicted as riding winged horses over the battlefields.
It's thought that the Valkyries' legend evolved from an older Germanic idea of female war spirits, who gathered at battlefields and decided the fates of the warriors. These were not the virtuous caretakers of slain fighters who captivated men with their beauty and carried them off to a wondrous afterlife.
