It is likely that John Dutton adopted Jamie since he knew the Randall family and wanted to protect Jamie from any further harm. “When he married the woman who gave birth to you, we begged her not to do it because we knew,” said John in season three.
Rip Wheeler and Jamie aren't related by blood, and if we're being honest, there's not a lot that connects them except for the Dutton name, neither of which was given to either of them by blood. They both swore to John Dutton that they'd protect the family and its reputation.
He stopped and Beth got out of the car hysterically. 'Taking you to that clinic is the greatest regret of my life,' said Jamie who had his sister sterilized during an abortion. Jamie told her that their father John Dutton III didn't know about his son.
Jamie then learns that his biological father Garrett is responsible for ordering the attacks on the Duttons. Jamie keeps this information to himself, however, Beth later learns the true identity of the attacker after paying a visit to Riggins in jail.
It's no secret that throughout her appearance in Yellowstone, Beth's mother, Evelyn Dutton was tough on her. It led to many fans thinking that she hated her. However, that doesn't seem to be the case at all. It turns out she was hard on her because she wanted to toughen her up.
' I mean, it's awful, but in Beth's mind, Jamie was part of the reason there was a hit on the whole family," Reilly explained. "He tried to kill her father, tried to kill her, tried to kill everyone and her brother, Kayce. So in her mind, he is the enemy.
After Jamie learned about his adoption, he asked Kayce for a favor, saying, “I need some advice, brother… If I can still call you that.” Kayce replies to him, “Until the day you die, you better never call me anything else.” This implies that Kayce had an inkling about the adoption.
The underlying reason for John Dutton's dislike of Jamie is their differing personality and views on life. It is why they often fight, argue, and even work against each other in various stages of their life. Of course, it's also possible that John dislikes Jamie because he's adopted and not a true-blooded Dutton.
While she is scared that it may damage her relationship with Rip, Beth does tell him about her being sterile. In response, Rip assures her that his feelings toward her won't change, even if they can't have biological children.
When Beth was a teenager, she got pregnant. She sought help from Jamie, who assisted her efforts to get an abortion. But, in order to keep the pregnancy from leaking to the press and embarrassing the family, Jamie took Beth to a free clinic on a Reservation, where sterilization was mandatory with abortions.
She gives Jamie three options: Spend life in prison, be tortured and killed by Rip, or eliminate Garret himself.
Right then and there, Beth knew she had power over Rip – after all, she's the daughter of Rip's boss. Rip was only a teenager when John Dutton took him in. The patriarch of the Dutton Ranch gave Rip a place to live and a job on the ranch after ending up being an orphan with nowhere else to go.
Kayce John Dutton is a main character on Yellowstone. He is John and Evelyn Dutton's son. He has a complex and tense relationship with his father, who increaslingly regrets the emotional distance between them. Kayce is married to Monica and they have a son, Tate.
Lee may have initially been the favorite, but Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) was the prodigal son. John probably didn't react in the best way when he branded him with the Yellowstone 'Y' after Kayce told him that he was in love with a pregnant Monica Long (Kelsey Asbille), but time heals all wounds.
Rip saving Beth's life
She manages to get a text sent to Rip saying "office help" just before they start savagely beating her and her assistant, Jason.
It might be surprising to know that the actress has red hair naturally. Kelly's beautiful shoulder red hair is why she has to wear a blonde wig in the drama. Being a redhead naturally, the producers must ensure the character's looks do not underplay her character.
When his father gave him a chance to come back on the ranch, Kayce went to live in the bunkhouse and started to work his way back in. Later on, his father appointed him as the new foreman of the ranch, succeeding his brother Lee and Rip Wheeler, and he and his family started to live in the ranch house.
Why Was Kayce Branded On Yellowstone? John branded his son Kayce (Luke Grimes) as punishment for when Kayce left the ranch to be with Monica (Kelsey Asbille), back when she got pregnant with Tate (Brecken Merrill). Kayce has since forgiven his father for what he did.
John and Evelyn Dutton were blessed with four children: Beth has three brothers (Lee, Jamie, and Kayce). They grew up together on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Kayce extended the family, marrying Monica Long and having a son named Tate, Beth's nephew.
In Season 4, his biological father even tried to have the Duttons killed in order to make room for Jamie to shine.
Early on in season 4, we find out that the perpetrator of the Dutton attacks was a prisoner named Terrell Riggins. Riggins apparently hired a local militia to gun down, blow up, and ambush John, Kayce, and Beth.
Although things seem to be going into turmoil for the Duttons, Beth Dutton's (Kelly Reilly) adopted son Carter (Fin Little) could soon find love.
