Soul searching is the process of figuring out your purpose, your motivations, and what may need to change in your life in order to live in greater alignment with your true self. It often occurs as a result of feeling out of touch with yourself, or like something is missing.
Soul searching—or the idea of nourishing your soul—is an important exercise every person can and should partake in. Simply put, it's the desire to look more deeply for meaning in your life, says Kelley Kitely, LCSW, a Chicago social worker and best-selling author of MY self: An Autobiography of Survival.
It's meant to be a springboard. Take about 30 minutes (or more) in a secluded spot — be it in meditation, on a walk, in the tub — and run over these questions and answers in your mind. Even if you're feeling totally at peace with yourself, you may find that there are some areas that you wish to improve. Be like water.
Soul-searching questions are deep, thought-provoking questions that challenge you to examine your beliefs, values, aspirations, and desires. These questions are designed to help you uncover your true self and understand your place in the world.
And at some point, all of us enter a stage in life when these questions become even more meaningful. ... And though these questions are many, you could make the argument that they all really boil down to these three fundamental ones:
Soul searching is the process of figuring out your purpose, your motivations, and what may need to change in your life in order to live in greater alignment with your true self. It often occurs as a result of feeling out of touch with yourself, or like something is missing.
“It is possible to find yourself and to evolve when you're in a committed relationship. In fact, that's how healthy relationships grow,” Masini agrees. “When you are with someone who is committed to you and the relationship, there is room for finding yourself.”
How can you tell if you have suffered a soul loss? You may feel detached, empty, devoid of purpose, unable to concentrate and aimless in life. Some people experience deep depression and suicidal thoughts. Many simply suffer memory loss of crucial years from early childhood.
Our face and the attractiveness of our eyes shows how we feel and reflects our inner soul. Their appearance reflects if we are tired. We often do not look after ourselves well regarding skin care, diet, sleep, exercise.
But soul searching also has a deeper meaning. At its core, soul searching is a desire to return to the center of your being. Quite literally, it is a journey to find your Soul and reconnect with your True Nature; it is a spiritual path. And usually, it marks the beginning of the spiritual awakening journey.
Our soul purpose is firstly to remember the truth of who we are, and then share that with the world. It is a feeling, rather than a physical thing. It is why we do something, rather than what we do. It can be as simple as smiling at a passer-by in the street, or as grand as trying to save the world.
Take some time to get away from everything, or at the very least, spend a few minutes every day totally unplugged from the world, with no distractions to just be alone with your thoughts. Start asking yourself which parts of your identity you want to hold on to and which parts you want to release.
The connection between old souls is so strong that they can feel the other person's energy and vibrations as strongly as they feel their own. They feel a strong, gut-level knowledge of each other that is undeniable. They can sense their perfect match, even before they meet.
