Alcohol will need to be discontinued for at least 2 weeks before your nose job because it can create problem bleeding, bruising and swelling.
Many patients should be able to return to the shower about 48 to 72 hours after their procedure. However, their first few showers after surgery will be modified to prevent infection.
Bleeding may occur after surgery. It should stop in about 4 to 7 days. Swelling may occur around your outer nose. It should resolve over the next 1 to 2 weeks.
Can I brush my teeth the morning of surgery? Yes. You may brush your teeth and swish with a small amount of water to rinse.
The Morning of Your Rhinoplasty
Wear a Button-Up Top– You won't want to pull anything over your head after surgery so wear a button up top to your procedure. We also recommend comfortable pants and slip-on shoes. Don't Eat– Don't eat or drink after midnight on the day of your rhinoplasty.
Hard Foods
Hard to chew, sticky, and crunchy foods are on top of the list of foods to avoid after Rhinoplasty. It can contribute to your swelling, cause discomfort or even pain, and add to Rhinoplasty recovery time.
Use Q-Tip & Hydrogen Peroxide
Using a Q-Tip and hydrogen peroxide is a safe, effective way to clean and disinfect your nose and rhinoplasty incisions, but should only be done after any packing has been removed from your nose and face.
Medical literature has suggested that the revision rate of Rhinoplasty or cosmetic nose surgery is between 10 and 15 percent, therefore Rhinoplasty has about an 85 to 90 percent success rate, although this could be higher if the operation is performed by board-certified plastic surgeons specializing in this procedure.
During the first 72 hours after your rhinoplasty, focus on taking it easy and letting your body rest. This is usually when the most tenderness, swelling and bruising will occur. Applying a cold compress every hour or so can help to make you more comfortable.

In general, the majority of swelling should begin to subside within three days. Most patients can return to work after 1-2 weeks, depending on the type of work. Resume normal activity slowly, being careful not to push too hard too soon. Strenuous or contact activities should be put off for at least 3-6 weeks.
You can't wear deodorant during surgery because it can leave a residue on your skin that's difficult to remove. This residue might make it challenging for the surgeon to cut through the incision site or accurately assess your skin circulation during surgery.
This is because all humans have germs on their skin that may cause an infection after surgery. Taking two showers (one at night and one in the morning) with CHG soap removes germs and reduces the risk of infection. Your doctor's office will give you the CHG soap and showering instructions.
